What do you mean by the Saints are worse this year when this season has not even started yet?

Money Shot hit it right on the head, i like the saints to win and hopefully cover but anything is definitely possible but Favre will have to have a pretty good game... Can he be as sharp as he was last year especially in the playoffs?
I question Favre's mobility, and the fact that he has new personel to deal with. I'm not sold on Peterson not fumbling. First week games are generally sloppy.
If the Vikings are throwing in some new wrinkles in their offense, how hard do you think it will be to communicate in the red zone in a dome in New Orleans where these fans are going to let off steam from all the BS that has happened to them the last few years.
Hurricanes, Oil Spills, The sound will be deafening. This is not an enviroment where any club would want to start the season unless your the New Orleans Saints.
My hypothesis sees the Saints getting up early in this game and forcing Farve, (whose mobility is still ??) to try and stay up with Brees on a bad ankle. If this situation happens, I don't think the Vikings can win.
No.1 you can't rush the ball when you are behind.
No.2 Farve will have to pass and be prone to getting hit, possibly forcing bad passes, or getting knocked out of the game.
No.3 The offense will have to deal with the noise and Favre may not be able to call an audible.
I see Minnesota up against it in this one. Yes there is revenge, and if this game was in Minnesota, then I could possibly see a Viking victory. Still, you have to ask, will Farve be as good as last year? I doubt it. Will Peterson fumble, I think so.
Another thing that looked like a scape goat was the baiting of officials for so called bad hits. It looks like the Vikings are trying to set up officials.

Another point to add...
Holding calls have considerably increased this year (obviously looking at the preseason) with the stripes lining up behind the offensive line. For what it is worth, I think that this bodes well for the Saints more than the Vikings.

Tough game no doubt but the most important player for Vikings is also questionable. His motivation is also questionable while the Saints are the defending champs and will be looking to show that they are. Lets see what happens.

Interesting since the Packers didn't sack #4 AT ALL last season... ![]()
Rodgers still has nightmares of the Vikings front four ![]()

I'll play devils advocate...
the huge unknown here is Farve. the guy is playing on a surgically repaired ankle, not to mentino he's over 40 years old....do you think he's going to do what he did last year?
I dont' think so.... I mean 33 tds to 7 picks is his career best.... odds are the tds go down and the picks go up. Now he lost his best wide-receiver
Saints are also in their second year in the new defensive scheme.... so while Sharper being out is HUGE, the rest of the team should be better now that they are familiar with the scheme.... (I feel the same way about the Packers by the way)
it's going to be a shootout... the Saints will score points on any defense, especially at home....
if this was in Minn I would be singing a different tune.... but it's in the superdome which is the loudest in the league.... the Viking offense is not in mid-season form and they will need to be to combat the noise....
I would take the points if betting Minn.... Moneyline looks nice but if you can get 6 and buy it up to 7 it may be worth it.
good luck on whatever you decide!

Just an observation....it appears that you have your Saints backers laying the lumber and your MN ML backers. Just from what I'm reading here.....could be different overall because I have no idea where all the money is. But I got the same feeling in the NFC championship game last year. Gonna be an interesting game.

You are missing a few things you should consider. Favre has had all of 2 weeks to get ready and he is NOT 100%.
Percy Harvin is not a threat in this game, has not had hardly any time to get ready due to his migraines.
This is no where near the team it was at the end of last season...yet.
The Saints will get after Favre, again. We all know what happens to Bret (as much as I love him) when he is under pressure. Regardless if they turn over the ball many times or not, Minn is not hitting on all cylinders....and.....
The superbowl winner has won the last 10 home openers.

_________
This is a completely false statement. He is fine and he will be an option.

I just dont know if Favre is ready for a full game yet. He always seems to shock me, but I have a hard time thinking he is in tip top game shape.
What do you think about Favre tateronline? Sell me
