Not sold yet but my early lean is with you. A couple of conerns though. I THINK Texans are locked into #3 slot regardless of how they do in their next two games. I buy the letdown against Carolina but am not sure if there is any direct correlation with SF's win against Pitts on MN. SF's game was a MUST. Texans next MUST game is when they host their first playoff game. Based upon my assumption their next two games are meaningless.
Who gets Luck if Rams and Indy finish the season tied at 2-14? Texan can help themselves (for VERY VERY LONG TIME) by taking Indy out of Luck sweepsteak. Rams dont need a QB so Luck may still end up with Indy but it will come with a hefty price tag as Rams will likely take Luck with the first pick and then trade him (or Bradford) to the highest bidder.
Rams are not winning their next two games (@Pitt, vs SF) unless week 17 game is meaningless to SF. Minneosta, another 2-12 team, has a chance to win their week 17th game vs Chi.
While comparing individual matchups between two teams, Houston is the way to go. The number has moved up from -5.5 to -6 so money is coming on Hou. Considering the above, as well as, public backing Hou, I will be concerned with a backdoor cover.
Thanks for your thoughts. I read your post earlier but I had a lot on my mind so not everything sunk in completely. In re-reading this thread, and your comments, I got stuck on the sentence I highlighted in bold.
My interpretation (I don't see any other) is that you are saying Hou can help themselves in the future by losing to Indy. Wow. I'm sure you don't really mean that you think they will......try to lose.....
I know some folks are saying Indy will lose on purpose so they can insure winning the Lucky Stakes. I don't buy it. I just can not accept that pro players or an esteemed organization would stoop to such unethical behavior. They have pride. They are players and players do want to win. I do think they will try to beat Houston. I also think they are SOL anyway because Hou will try to beat Indy and they are the better team with Playoff Motivation (seeding). I seriously don't believe that Hou will want to deliberately lose to Indy just to spoil their chances to get Luck who would then play against them in the future. Nah, no way. Hou can help themselves best right now by winning out if they need so that they have a chance for #2 seed. I can't stress how important that seed is. Playing at home after a bye in the wild card round is sooo HUGE! Kubiac and Co. are no dummies, they know this, they will try to get it. Whether they do in fact get the seed, I don't know. But I am 100% positive that they WILL try! OK, if they lose @ Indy (not for lack of trying) then they are officially eliminated from the chance to get #2 so they will rest up the final game and sit out players....
On a side note, and don't take this the wrong way....IMO, Luck is over-rated. He will be a rookie, have a lot to learn; he is not just going to jump in somewhere (presumably Colts) and start winning. Yes, he has great talent. I will not argue against that. BUT, being somewhat a Cardinal fan (Bay Area guy here), and having watched many of their games (on TV - local broadcasts) this year and even having won money betting on them a lot, Luck in his last several games has been not-so-impressive. Maybe when he lost his buddy/receiver Owusu, that had a big impact on his effectiveness but every game later in the schedule it seemed he was throwing picks and IMO stinking it up mixed in with playing very well too. I'm not nearly as high on him anymore as most are. I know he's smart, I know he'll learn and should do well in the NFL, but likely not right away and who knows...it wouldn't be the first time a big 1st round draft pick became a bust or a disappointment (Alex Smith - how many years of futility before this year? just one example) . Not predicting that at all, just saying I think he's somewhat over-rated right now. In fact, if I were an NFL GM, I would pick Griffin over Luck! (That's just my opinion, please guys don't crucify me for it...lol)
Again, thanks for your comments. I hope the game tomorrow nt is fun and entertaining...and I hope my Prime Time streak grows to #8 straight....LOL
