I don't think you should compare what he did in his youth, to now.  It's a completely different situation.  The man is just old.

Agreed. Even now, those teams and many more would have a better chance of winning each week with Farve at QB rather than their current QBs.

But he should not have come back for one more year. He was not ready and his body is shot.

He just throws too many picks in important situations.   He's done it his whole career.    

He controlled it last year I think because he wanted to show up the Packers for letting him go for that reason.    But this year he's back to being the moron he always was.

I am a bit hesitant to post here because I have made a living fading Brett Favre for as long as I can remember. 

Anybody who argues that Brett Favre is NOT one of the top five most overrated athletes of all time either hasn't watched him play often enough, or is blinded by fandom.  For the past 15 years there has been no one more reliable at building false expectations and inflated public support.  I have bet against the man time and time again and he always delivers with that interception that gushing announcers often describe as 'Brett being Brett'.  He is praised for his 'gambling' nature as a quarterback because that is what Americans like.  We want to root for the guy who takes chances.  But I think we are finally seeing where all of this comes from.  He is an attention person who would rather win a game by making a throw no one thought could be made.  He has to be the hero.  Look at last night.  Those last two interceptions came on drives where Adrian Peterson was running ALL OVER the Green Bay defense.  The situation certainly did not call for Favre to be slinging balls into traffic and throwing off of one foot while he was being sacked.  Yet, that's exactly what he did because he is an attention person and a media creation who does nothing but lose  big football games.

Brett IMO is a great QB.. he's tough considering he's already 41 of age and still play with injuries..
Yes, he gives the game away at times when the game is on the line.. but looking at his numbers I won't consider him as overratted.. Overratted players are like Tony Romo, Vince Young, etc.  in NFL you get paid to perform.  Brett has been doing his job but his stats this season has a lot to do with his age and health.  I know that's shouldn't be an excuse but look at how other NFL QB are doing (Philips Rivers, Jay Cutler, etc) this season and they are at their prime age compared to Brett's retire age. 
I took GB last night but still gave Brett , he would keep the hopes alive even if you're down 2-3 TD with 10 mins to go at the 4th Quarter..

At this point, I think Tavaris might give them a better chance to win. At least he wouldn't try and force it and let the running game do it's thing.  And actually, it's been pretty easy to bash him throughout his career.  Are you forgetting that he has only 1 super bowl win despite being crowned the MVP three times and being on a contending team every year???  Overrated does not mean that he is a bad player.  But there are a lot of people that consider him one of the best QB's of all time and that just ridiculous.  I have been fading this man successfully for big money in big games for over a decade. Are there any other 'legendary' quarterbacks who you would feel comfortable blindly fading in a big game?  Maybe Manning...maybe.  But even he has as many rings as Favre and never had a defense like the ones Favre has had in Green Bay and Minnesota.

He's pretty good....he's not best all time and it's tough to judge him now when he's 41, doesn't show up to camp, and has a bevy of problems:

off the field stuff

missing his #1 target from last season

ankle

elbow

 

He's not the best all-time but, he's a top 10 all time QB.
