What doesnt make sense? Im saying that if a play loses, it doesnt matter what line you got as they all have the same value which is zero. "Value" is overused a ton.

OK, I understand more clearly now.

But the price does matter when you lose if you are betting a certain amount to win, which is what I assume a guy like Scal does.  If he wants to win 100, a line of -116 vs -125 matters - ONLY IF YOU LOSE.

So in this case, when I bet, it is more important that I line shop my losers than my winners.

When you have a losing bet, the "value" is in minimizing your losses.

Sorry if my post came off aggressive.

All relax, have fun and make some money this weekend. Everyone is being all negative when Scal is just giving his opinion, tail or fade and chill. On a second note, we all know or some here do, who the very best NFL capper is.

No worries brother. I know you know your stuff and yeah, my post wasnt crystal clear. I agree and understand the "value" in losing as little as possible as we both know the books have endless time and bankroll.

Can't believe ya didnt swing by our cfb bowl thread....it was a blast.

Who ya got this wildcard weekend Van?

That's not true at all except on the most micro levels of betting.

If I give you 3-1 odds on the flip of a coin, and it loses, you still got good value on it and long term it will be more profitable than if I gave you 2-1.  Maybe that value on that bet becomes moot, but obviously it's still an important tool to get the best line/price you can.

I agree though, the term "value" is highly overused/misused.

I agree though, the term "value" is highly overused/misused.

Of course getting the best line matters if you win, and if something is truly a coin flip and you can get 2-1 on an outcome then yes, that has value. So if Dallas/Seattle is a coin flip....getting Dallas -115 isnt value at all even though now it costs you -127...Seattle +105 to +120 is the value....

    Again, "value" .....

I have to say this thread has become an embarrassment.

Not because I made it and not because of the OP (which is as usual, a first-rate, informative post), but for two other reasons:

    1. All the hand-wringing when it comes to betting the Cowboys. It's like every other poster thinks Leon Lett is going to chase down a blocked field goal in the snow against the Dolphins in this game. He's retired guys. Don't worry.

My god. Buck up and be men. It's a bet on a side. Not diving into a foxhole in Nam.

    2. The remedial capping approach of: "Seattle QB good!" "Dallas Coach BAD!"

Reading guys type that is like watching an SNL episode with Tonto, Frankenstein and Tarzan all grunting to a Christmas Carol. Incoherent and uninformative.

I know why BegginerBoy says it. He's approaching the cap from a minimalist perspective. And he's a seasoned capper so it's warranted.

But virtually everyone else saying the above and offering nothing else? On the biggest and most prominent gambling message board in the world? It's embarrassing to let the general public see this is the juvenile 'capping' that goes on in this space.

Add in the trolls (Train BWS Wmi) I have to wipe my shi* stained capping shoes on and the thread becomes a total debacle.

Anyhow, 16 more hours and we'll get the ball rolling. Whatever gets to the winner's circle after all the labor pains here.

    Rant over.

No I actually talk about the game. Then when tweedle dee and tweedle dum show up (inevitable, you and Train) I respond in kind to your imbecility.Spin the mini propeller on top of your rainbow colored beanie while I actually do the capping in this thread.

In the Colts/Texans game, I'm leaning Colts as of now, The Texans play has dipped a level these past weeks and the Colts have the confidence knowing they have been there and done that winning in that stadium. However they are both so equal and know each other well, It's a game of fine margins and you never know Watt could win them the game on his own. Regarding the Chargers/Ravens, How the Ravens are favored here is beyond me, The Chargers are a 12 win team and have an elite, veteran QB. Yes the Ravens beat them a few weeks ago but the Chargers had an opportunity to win that late despite how well the Ravens d played, Go back and watch it, It was one play that decided that game. The Ravens D as Mayfield showed is not the Ray Lewis Raven's D, It's good but a smart, veteran QB will get the better of it, I will be on the Chargers and if LJ proves me wrong, I will tip my cap to the rookie but he won't.
it's because the ravens are playing at home....most people never realize just how dominant baltimore is at home. To put them as dogs against a rookie playoff squad such as the chargers, would just be silly.

Anyone who thoroughly capped ravens games will know that chargers stand virtually no chNce to win this game by more than a TD

Oh the Seahawks..what scares me is they are probably the best wildcard team out there going 6-2. Wilson hasn't lost a wild card game ever. Then we have the Cowboys, who only lost one game at home to the Titans. What is strange about the Cowboy losses is, that when they lose the opposing QB usually doesn't have a good game. Take the Colts game, most people don't realize it, but Luck didn't throw for a TD in that game, same thing in the loss to Carolina. IN all of the cowboys losses they also lost or tied in the first half, so they need to make sure that by halftime they are winning. I think the coin toss is going to be real important in this game, as Dallas needs as many possessions in the first half as possible. The simple formula is this..if Zeke carries the ball less than 20 times, then Dallas will lose, it happened every game (except the OT game).

    Hey Meloss,

The beanie itself was a typical laborer's cap when the economy was moved from agriculture to industry when manufacturing jobs began to dominatethe employment sector.

The propeller was popularized through this cartoon through the Beanie and Cecil cartoon 50's, where the propeller actually appeared on top of the beanie.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMdReHP9cb0

If you look at the main villain there with the mustache, clearly the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoon ripped him off as their main villain and just shortened him up and put some weight on him.

Now, as far as Alice and Wonderland goes, yes I've seen it. Virtually every American adult has!

Now here's the disturbing part that few people know:

Lewis Carroll, the world famous author, it is speculated but the evidence is overwhelming, wrote it because he was infatuated with a 12 year old girl.

The entire story and all its whimsical details, as famous as they all are, including Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, are so imaginative to curry the favor of this child, who he apparently was in love with.

Disturbing to say the least and has all the undertones of Michael Jackson's behavior.

I can't change history but the story became off-putting once I found that out.

No, I just look for more sophistication on a capping message board that allegedly the most preeminent in the world.

And for the most part, all I get capping that equates with grunts, farts and as s scratching.

It's one of the reasons WHY I continue to post even though I say I will leave.

The dearth of good capping here will be the death of this site itself if I did.

Wahoo, do you have a side on the Bama game? Just let me know it here and how confident you are in the pick.
