MrB, I'm going to be in Vegas this weekend and thinking about betting big (of course, no where near you) on the SB. Since this will be my first BIG bet, what is the amount that casino sportsbook will usually require you to fill out the W2G, 10k?
You would have to fill that out if and when you cash a ticket that's worth over $10,000. You could avoid the W2-G by asking for an amount in cash lower than $10,000 and the rest in sportsbook chips. But just make it easy on yourself by betting some smaller amounts repeatedly until you get all your cash down.

OK, thank you for the quick response. When you post you final number could you please post where you put the bet too? Hopefully I can still get similar number. Thanks.

If, hypothetically, the Giants led 20-14 at halftime -
hardly a position from which the Pats could then be said to be incapable of covering the full-game spread/generate a blowout result in the 2nd half, as you've stated you expect (at this point).
- would the fact that the Giants had already well surpassed your expectations of what they'll manage offensively (as i understand it, 13-14 pts), combined with the fact that they'd not only lived with the Pats for a half but went into the break with a lead, give you any pause for thought about using that halftime break to lessen your positions (if the lines were such to allow you), or would you stick to your guns and not let those surpassed expectations act an inertia with your overall take?
In short, I guess I'm asking what kind of first half (outside of the obviously truly shocking which saw the Giants lead by 15-20+) would give you apuse for thought at halftime, to lessen your position?

How could I lessen my position at halftime if the Giants were up by 6? They'd make New England -9, probably. I'd just stay put.

I know this is near impossible to determine... But if you HAD to put a % to the chances that the Giants have of winning straight up, what would it be??
Going back 10 years, there were only 2 Superbowls where a team was favored by this much (GB/DEN and NE/STL). Both of these ended up being upsets...Any thoughts on this?

I have been following Bator too, and i think this game would be 35 10 patriots, the giants are over the TV shows and Radio shows like they already won the SB, they are in for a rude awakening.

Bator, I am going to lock in with my local at -11 as soon as I can. Wondered what you thought for Maroney over 20 rushing attempts and 83 yards.
Personally, I think he hits them both, but I don't want to spread myself too thin.
Going to go large on the -11 and -3 first quarter.
Thanks man and good luck to you.
On the one hand Maroney's been running ferociously in the playoffs, but I think this is going to be a Patriots air assault. I don't like the over 20 rushing attempts. If you can lock in that -11 for the game, hit it and hit it extra hard.

The team with the better coach won those games as a big underdog. Does the big underdog here have the better coach? No.

Hey, that's one of the scores I was considering, along with 35-13, 38-13, 42-10........

I'm trying to figure out why Vegas released an initial line of NY Giants +14. The Super Bowl is supposed to have an "extra sharp line" and Vegas knows for a fact that the public will be all over that +14. Do you think this is a "trap game" set up by Vegas? I just don't see how Vegas will "allow" themselves to get slaughtered by the public on a hugely bet game like this. I'm thinking the "true" line might be something like Giants +17.5 and that Vegas had to shade the line down a lot and we're getting great value with the Pats -11. Your thoughts?

For superbowl prop bets, do vegas sportsbooks give action for heads/tails coin toss, who wins coin toss nyg/ne, and who receives kickoff nyg/ne? I don't bet much in sportsbooks, usually use a local bookie... just curious about these prop bets and if they allow some sort of weird three-team parlay for them?

When the game matches two teams that played each other during the regular season, the team that lost the regular season meeting is 6-5 in the Super Bowl, including 4-1 the last five times this has happened. This record will be tested shortly, as this year's contest between the New England Patriots and New York Giants is a rematch of a game played on the final weekend of the regular season, won by New England.
Any thoughts about this?
This will actually be the 3rd time this year both teams will play.
The last game, the Giants had NOTHING to play for other than to stop the Patriots perfect season; motivation hardly equaling the immortality of a Super Bowl win.
The quick strike knockout you're hoping for is possible, but clearly more probable if the Pats played a team they had't faced. The only teams the palyed twice were the Dolphins, Bills and Jets; who actually played pretty well in a 20-10 loss the second time around.
Your comments on the Pats letting loose now that its the Super bowl are astute; I can see belechek having no mercy on this team IF given the opportunity. BUT will they? At some point, if the game is competitive; I mean the Giants are up or are equalling the Pats, Belichek, IMO will play it tight; that 19-0 mantle is the greatest accomplishment of all time. He won't be reckless.
5% chance? How do you explain thta? NE to me has been running on fumes. The Charges were a pathetic display of an AFC conference representitive yet controlled the game. FG's and not TD's doomed them.
Anyway, your the professional. Just tlike to know your take

The Super Bowl opening line of +14 was extra sharp, in my opinion, perfect for drawing the majority of the action on what I like to call the dead wrong side. Thanks to the millions of dollars that have already been thrown away on the Giants + all those worthless points, yes, today we are getting incredible value with New England as low as -11.
That -11, by the way, isn't available here in Vegas. I suspect that those bookies that are offering the line that low are locals too dumb to realize that they're supposed to be WELCOMING all that dead Giants money and not discouraging it. I'll likely have to lay -12 here in town, where the bookies are stupid, just not completely.

I need my money for boxing wagering for Fri and Sat and can't tie it up on Sunday's game yet. The patriots money line at 5dimes when I first saw it was at -470 and is currently at -490. Where do you predict it will be by Sunday morning??
Also, what is the ML in Vegas? Preferably the Palms group of casinos if you happen to know it.
Do you know if there's a line for Klitschko v Ibragimov posted yet in Vegas? (this is as big a lock as Pats v Giants IMHO)

New England's motivation has increased, too, don't you think? And it's not just the reach for 19-0. Oh no. I believe the Patriots are more motivated by not losing than by actually winning. I'd be willing to bet that even before they landed in Arizona, the Patriots had already had it drilled into their brains by the evil mastermind Belichick that losing this game would be the disgrace of their lifetimes. With just one loss, this team will fall from unbeaten juggernaut to national punchline. The whole season of unparalleled excellence will have been a waste, and all the millions of Patriots haters will be in their glory. Meanwhile, there will no glory at all in 18-1. I believe the Patriots are motivated for this game by fear as much as anything else, but in a good way, not in the way that makes teams tighten up.
I thought I was being extremely generous in giving the Giants a 5% chance of winning. I take it back. Now I make it 1%. By the way, if you played for the Patriots, you also would have had a hard time getting truly psyched up for a Chargers team who's best offensive weapons could barely walk!

snippets69, believe it or not, the moneyline for the Patriots here in Vegas is already down as low as -400, so forget about that terrible line at 5 Dimes. 5 Dimes ain't stupid. It could drop further here in town and probably will. The Patriots moneyline is the surest thing I have ever seen in sports.
