Ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly. Thats how I describe that game. I'd much rather be wrong and the dolphins win than be right and have them lose. They played terrible on the Dline and the o-line. The tackling tonight was god awful.  Tannehill needed to go down field more. But, at the end of the day the Dolphins are currently the #6 seed, so I don't care how ugly it was. Big win. Miami has played well in some of their losses so they deserve to win when they play bad. Luckily they played one of the worst teams in the league tonight. I don't like their matchup next week so will be on that game lightly, and then heavier when they are dogs in NE.

Billy Hoyle's words have never run more true to me than tonight. "I'd rather look bad and win, than look good and lose."

    Hi earthWake,

Just wanted to get your take on the current state of the run defence. I had Miami down as above average against the run, but they have looked absolutely dreadful the last two weeks. Like you I was happy to put that down the Peyton plus weapons threat last week along with the ingame loss of Jared Odrick. However, last night they had Odrick back at full health (afaik) and knew the Jets were going to run but were powerless to stop them. This was really worrying to me as I had wanted to play them this week. Justin Forsett is like a man possessed at the moment and if they perform that way again I can't see them getting off the field against a Ravens offence who offer a lot more in the passing game than the Jets.
Have you got any feel for what is going on and how they can fix it on a short week?

I have absolutely no reason why the Dolphins have been so pathetic in run defense in 3 of the last 4 halfs. They ran the exact same defense they did in the first half in the second half last night, they just decided to tackle. The tackling in the Denver game last week and in the 1st half last night was so incredibly bad. The dolphins don't have run tackeling corners. Grimes is a too 3 CB but he can't tackle for chit, so he falls to like 8th in my book. The linebackers also are the worst part of their defense so if they play bad teams can run all over them.

There is really no reason Dolphins run defense was good before and sucks now besides tackeling. So simple, yet so important. I am just as baffled as everyone else as to why it has been so bad the last 2 weeks. I wish I had more answers but I don't. The dolphins struggles the last 10+ years vs the Ravens at home and the fact that Forsett is really good is what will be keeping me from betting a lot next week. Can't stress how many times I've used the word inconsistent because thats the Dolphins. Good enough to rout the 8-4 chargers 37-0 at home, but inconsistent enough to not be trusted. That's why I usually tread lightly when the Dolphins are the favorite but didn't last night and got burned by a inconsistent team. On a bright note, I can't ever remember the fins playing that bad and winning. Man that game was ugly last night.

However, last night they had Odrick back at full health (afaik) and knew the Jets were going to run but were powerless to stop them. This was really worrying to me as I had wanted to play them this week. Justin Forsett is like a man possessed at the moment and if they perform that way again I can't see them getting off the field against a Ravens offence who offer a lot more in the passing game than the Jets.Have you got any feel for what is going on and how they can fix it on a short week?

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving brutha  sorry about your wagers brutha but sure am glad the Dolphins pulled out the victory. I had to watch the end of the game at the airport bar...very ugly game but love the end result. It almost seemed like the Jets were purposely giving the game away just to stay on pace to get a high pick next season but the at the same time it seemed like the Dolphins didn't want it handed to them lol.

The run defense has been terrible of late. The Dolphins seems to be in the wrong gaps, very poor tackling, etc. The only excuse I had for them last night is that Chris Johnson seems to have great games against the Dolphins even when he was with the Titans lol.

The Dolphins normally struggles against the Ravens so let's hope it changes this weekend and I can only hope for a Dolphins victory.

Baltimore Ravens +3, at Miami Dolphins.

This game is to close to call in my opinion. I expect a really tight game and I don't see any value in any team. I really think Miami wins a tight one because they play well at home, but their struggles with the Ravens worries me. So does Forsett. Just being a fan today and enjoying the game. I definitely think there are better spots than this game today. goodluck whatever you play. Sorry been busy this week, if you care. Go fins

    prediction: 23-20, Miami

    ytd Fins games: +30.5u

Jarvis Landry over 5 catches: 4.2u to win 4

So fking sad that these refs aren't held accountable.

Guy prolly makes 100k a year and it won't matter to him at all that he just completely screwed 1 team out of a season of hard work.

Unbelievable that NFL has a billion dollar product and they cant shell out enough to get decent refs. If you watched this game you know what i mean

What exactly did they do? I didn't watch the game but the box score tells me the Ravens outgained the Fins by 198 yards and 2.4 yards per play ?!

    - Dolphins up 10-0 and driving. Tannehill throws a 30 yard pass to ravens 25 yard line. A horrible illegal man downfield is called wiping out the play. Dolphins scored 3 points after this

    - Flacco fumble and then reversal. ARE U KIDDING ME. I have seen so many calls this year that was not reversed because not enough evidence. There was no way in hell there is clear evidence it was incomplete, next play touchdown ravens.

Those are just 2 I could go on but comeon. If you read this thread from page 1 you would see I have never blamed refs once. Yesterday is so unacceptable from a reffing standpoint. Their piss poor calls maybe have cost Philbin his job and dolphins a playoff birth. Where is the accountability? Those refs won't give a second thought to screwing a team out of a possible playoff birth. How many times have you seen illegal man downfield called FOUR times in one game, and one of them on a punt?? What?...Did anyone else see the eagles, Seahawks game where the lineman was TWENTY yards downfield and no call for illegal man downfield...but there was 4 called in Miami game. There just needs to be some sort of accountability from the refs and nfl. Like I said it's a billion dollar product in the hands of 10 cent refs. If you watched yesterday's game you saw fins dominate he first 25 minutes of that game and if not for the bs illegal man downfield fins might go up 17-0 and the whole dynamic of the game changes.

Damn tough loss for the Dolphins. The Pats are up next and the way they are playing I truly cannot see the Dolphins beating them twice this season. Moreno was a huge factor in the first game and he is out for the season. The Dolphins defense has taken a turn for the worse with injuries and basically playing bad defense.

A victory over the Ravens would of kept the Dolphins playoffs hopes alive even with a loss to the Patriots. The Ravens loss was huge.

I have so much more to say but I'm just too disappointed to go on and rambling

Santa this Dolphins fan needs a Christmas miracle this weekend...All I want for Christmas is for the Dolphins to beat the Patriots this weekend

In terms of importance to their secondary I would rank Delmas #4. (Grimes, Jones, Finnegan ahead of him.) With Delmas out, if Finnegan or Taylor play it is not that big of a deal, but if all 3 of those guys are out (Delmas obviously is) Miami's secondary will have a really, really tough time holding NE under 30 points. I always hear at the beginning of the week that Finnegan should play and then by Saturday he is doubtful. I do think Finnegan will play though. Also with Delmas out that means Increased playing time for Jimmy Wilson which is disaster waiting to happen. I just don't understand how a guy can go 20 straight games without making a good play on the ball or forcing some kind of turnover. Jimmy Wilson what do you do?

I actually think the Dolphins show up this week and maybe steal one. I know all the reasons they should lose, but what would be more Miami Dolphin-ish than to win this game to get everyone's hopes up and then blow it to the jets week 17. Wouldn't suprise me in the least. I'm taking Sundays loss harder than any other this year. It's just really depressing how well they played for 25 minutes to just collapse on defense in the 2nd half.

I think your statements are on point. To top it off the Dolphins lead the NFL in scoring in the 3rd QTR but scored nothing in the 3rd and only a field goal in the 4th. Frustrating yes...still a fan...of course.

Yeah really the only thing I can think of is that 97 yard drive for a TD just absolutely took all the momentum from Miami. They were up 10-7 and it felt like they were losing. That's what happens when you dominate a half and only lead by 3 points. Poor play calling, mediocre defense and no big plays is the reason they lost the 2nd half 21-3. The Oline went back to how it looked last year, last week. Joe Philbin is all but out the door unless they make the playoffs. GM Stephen Ross is too rich to not overpay a head coach. I would be really happy with Harbough, Gruden or Cower. Other than that I really don't know. On a side note it really looks like Finnegan will retire. I read earlier in the year he was hyping Jamar Taylor up to be his replacement saying things like he hoped Taylor beat him out and became an elite corner. Now another report he is going to retire at the end of the season and all signs certainly point to that.

Not giving up on them yet though. I'm on the edge but I refuse to jump. Too much can happen in the final 3 weeks. This is their season next week though. The guys in their locker room work too hard to just lay down with season on the line. That might not be enough to beat NE but they do match up well with them.

Dolphins (+8, 48.5) At New England.

What is left to say about the Miami Dolphins. Close losses and mediocre coaching have put the brakes on what looked like a very promising season. It seems like last year that Miami dominated SD in a 37-0 home win. The game against the Patriots on sunday is their season. A bad loss will all but seal Philbin's fate.

The frustration of this team has pretty much given me writers block. It is just impossible to know what Dolphins team will show up. The team that held the Chargers to less than 200 yards of offense and wouldn't allow the ravens a first down in the 1st quarter. OR, a team that couldn't stop the run against the jets when they knew it was coming. As inconsistent as the Fins have been, they have showed flashed of greatness that they put together for 1 game vs SD. Its not that outrageous to think Miami shows up on sunday with their season on the line. 8 points is a lot as the Dolphins have beaten the Pats 2 out of their last 3. (the loss was last year at NE when the Dolphins were up 17-3 at half.) With Finnegan playing, their defense still has the pieces to hold the Pats to 20-26. If their offense shows up it will be a game. The biggest factor for the Dolphins will be the Dline. Struggled lately but with the season on the line I trust they will not be pushed around.

Tough season, but a win in this game puts Miami RIGHT back in the playoff hunt. I don't think they will do it, but they have a better chance than they did vs Denver. I expect them to lose by 10 or less. I'll take my chances on them showing up. Simple as that.

    Prediction: 27-24, Patriots
    ytd Fins games: +34.5u

    Miami Dolphins +8: 5u to win 4.7
Miami Dolphins ML (+320): 2u to win 6.4
    Mia / NE Over 48.5: 2.2u to win 2

I hear ya earthwake  I'm normally excited for Sunday to come around to watch some Dolphins football...this weekend not so much. I hate to lose faith but just need to think realistically.
