Although the concept is not at all understood by most part time handicappers;  capping is a hypothesis that transcends to a viable theory via detailed study of teams, tendencies, historical data, simulations, and recent trends that lead to asking/answering the right questions.  Now most cappers skip the hypothesis, the theory, the questions, and jump straight to the undeniable fact of a game result—no such thing… there never was, and never will be indisputable guaranteed fact no matter how good their ‘feel’ was.  All we can do is funnel down the information into as few questions as possible that must be answered to try and pin down the most likely result.  I say this to preface the questions that I believe must be answered in this match up—if I answer correctly, I’ll win, if not, I’ll lose:

    1)      Is Oakland’s recent success, winning streak and divisional lead for real, or smoke and mirrors?

    2)      Is Miami’s recent success, winning streak and divisional lead for real, or smoke and mirrors?

    3)      Is Carson Palmer playing as good as his impressive record of 3-1 as a Raider starter ?

    4)      Is Matt Moore playing as well as his recent (last 4 gms) 3-1 record indicates?

Oakland’s recent success:  After starting the season 4-4 Oakland is an impressive 3-0 in their last 3 games, which has propelled them to the top to the AFC West—one game ahead of the also surging Denver Broncos.   In their 3 game winning run, they have beaten 2 teams with losing records, and 1 team with a winning record (Chicago Bears).  A few key points seem to shed a little light on this winning run for me.  One of the QB’s they beat in this win streak was a first game starter in Caleb Hanie (Bears), who was in position to  attempt a game winning drive with 1:01 to go in the game starting from his own 5 yard line down 25-20.  In 6 plays he moved this complete rookie drove his team 42 yards and spiked the ball for a penalty of Intentional grounding..game over/rookie mistake.  In that game vs this first game rookie, the Raiders offense was trumped in total yardage 401 to the Raiders 341.  First downs: Raiders 17/Bears 18.  The Bears redzone efficiency was 1 for 2, while the Raiders were only 1 for 5, and goal to go efficiency was Bears 1 for 1 and Raider 1 for 3…vs a First game starter mind you.  The Raiders did win the game for only 1 reason;  Haney threw 2 TDs and 3 INT’s to Palmers 0 TD’s and 1 INT…. Raiders were +2 in turnover ratio, if not, they lose this game to a rookie QB who had a 56.9 passer rating.

Vs the Vikings.. I’ll be a little more brief and ‘nutshell’ this one for you.  Minnesota’s QB Ponder has a 72.8 passer rating, and just does not look very good at all.  The Raiders beat the 2-9 Vikings by 6 pts (27-21) Raiders with 301 total offense to the Viking’s 311 (with AP only having 6 rushing attempts before spraining his ankle).  What was stunning is the stellar field position the Raiders could barely cash in on; of 13 possessions, the Raiders started their drives inside the Vikings territory 4 times (2 within the Vikings 30 yrd line) and the vikings turned the ball over 5 times and still the Raiders put up only 27 pts.  Once again, the Raiders won the turnover battle +4 vs a rookie QB and barely won.  The biggest play of the game was Ponders INT in the Oakland Redzone (5 yd line).   Once again, the Raiders did poorly in RedZone efficiency 3 of 5 (60%).

I am going to have to be less elaborate here, or this will be a book in an hour…….

Carson Palmer:  Palmer has put up a 125 vs SD, 107 vs Vikings, and a 72 passer rating over the last 3 games.  But he simply just needed to play mistake free vs 2 rookie QBs.  3 TDs/2 INTs… I am not impressed considering he is having a heluva time getting his team in the end zone.  The Raider kicked 9 FG’s to 7 TDs over their last 3 gms.   Answer:  NO, the Raiders are not nearly as good as a first place team should be, and Palmer has not had to press it in the recent 3 games; Oakland has been behind only 3 times in the last 3 games (once by 1, once by 3, and once by 7)  I think Palmer will fall apart if Miami can get and lead and make him feel like he has to catch up.

Matt Moore:  Moore is 3-4 as a starter this year, but is 3-1 in his last 4.  Moore had a passer rating of 99.5 vs Dallas, 133.3 vs Buffalo, and a 147 vs KC.  He has thrown 7 TD’s and 0 Int’s in his last 3 starts.  For those of us that watched the Miami / Dallas game on Thanksgiving, you have to give this kid a fighting chance of being a very good NFL QB (I bet against him, and lost that one).  He is protecting the ball, has good leadership qualities, he’s tough, and he fights to win.

Miami is +3 in turnover ratio in their last 3 games, prior to then they were -8 for the season.  This is a crucial stat vs the Raiders, because that is what the Raiders have been relying on to beat inferior QB by small margins over the last 2 weeks.  Miami is ranked 7th in rushing defense this season, giving up just 97.5 ypg, but that improved to 2nd best in the NFL (counting the last 3 games only) allowing just 62.3 ypg.  Miami is also 11th in the NFL in completions allowed over the last 3 gms, and 4th in most incompletions against over the last 3 gms.  Miami is 15th in the league in sacks over the last 3 gms as well.  Miami is also 6th in the NFL in opponents T.O.P. over the last 3 games (they are forcing a lot of 3 and outs, and giving the ball back to their offense)

Ok, let’s start rapping this up….. 1) is Oakland as good as advertised? NO, they are barely beating weak teams with weak QBs (Rivers might as well be a weak QB considering the O line that cannot give him 3 seconds to pass), Oakland has relied on winning the turnover ratio, and still they have barely beat weak teams that are playing badly; Miami is playing very well all of a sudden.

Next…2)  Is Miami for real? Absolutely… scroll up for proof.

And 3) is Carson Palmer really playing as well as advertised?  Hell no… Moore is out classing him in many areas (scroll up) and Palmer is probably going to have a pretty tough day tomorrow.

Lastly, 4) is Moore as good as we are starting to think him to be?  I think he is better, and he just needed a few games to get used to the speed of the NFL.

Intangibles: 65+% of the Squares are on the Raiders, and the Sharps are betting the Dolphins hard.

Now… all questions answered and we are led to one final question as a result:

Can Miami win the turn over battle tomorrow?  (this is the real question that the others led us to…if Oakland wins the TO battle, Miami could still feasibly win.  If Miami wins the TO battle, No chance the Raiders can overcome that…none)….

I think Miami can, and will win the TO battle and easily cover the 3.5 chalk.

Miami -3  (bet this one hard and heavy boys…easy money)

I had to start shortening this, or it would have been wayyy too long.  Some thoughts were shortened/broken….if anyone has any questions…shoot a reply… I’ll answer…..BOL 2 ALL!!

no need since money in the pocket, yours or mine has nothing to do with bragging rights.

I'm for sure that I'm not looking for bragging rights because they do not give out such trophy on here.  LOL

I'm fading material and everyone should know this by now.....I yap the yap because the logic should make sense but logic with lack of reasoning is false logic.

Mia is a stronger bet....I'm rooting for you to win...

    Keep pounding 'em out KScapping!

You do NOT need to respond to any negative comments in your thread.

Stay focused and do NOT waste your time going back and forth with the degenerate gamblers in here.

No need to comment back!  Thanks again for the continued long-term success!

u must be choking,  I meant joking.   Miami is a joke.  Yes , you point out the recent success of the fins being  a strong reason to go with them.  Yet you point out the recent success of the Raiders as a reason to stay away from them.  The Raiders have more to play for here.  The reason they are barely beating teams is that the get a lead and play "safe " football.  (which I hate by the way)  The Raiders are banged up but on strong.  I personally am not touching this game.  (east coast/west coast factor)  but the better team is the Raiders.

Got Miami at -1 early and large....that team would be the best team in the horrible AFC West. Phins defense playing lights out and hard for Sparano, Dolphin offense playing for their jobs.
