Also you are correct.  Delaware is a joke when it comes to corps.  And they don't need much of a physical presence there to take advantage of tax breaks.  I think all you really need is a room the size of a closet.  Or a PO BOX at a Delaware post office.  Something crazy like that.

I don't think we should penalize companies that send jobs overseas. The whole problem is that an American worker isn't willing to accept the wage rate that an Asian or Eastern European is more than willing to take, it's basic competition. The jobs we lose overseas are mostly basic manufacturing jobs which don't command a livable wage in the US. If we were to penalize companies for shipping jobs overseas and companies brought those jobs back it would instantly increase the cost of many basic goods. If we were a more frugal society with lower taxes then it could work though.

I thought the point of incorporating in Delaware is that they don't have a state corporate tax for income earned outside of the state? That means companies in Delaware are only subject to the federal corporate income tax. Correct me if I'm wrong about this. I also believe that Delaware is considered to have the most developed bankruptcy court system in the country. And that's funny you mentioned that companies only need a closet as their office in Delaware. I remember a 60 Minutes or some other program investing this. They went to offices of multi-nationals listed in Delaware and when they got into the office the only person there was a secretary. The secretary always said "XX manager/executive" is out of town and didn't know when they would be back.

I also just read, in regards to the credit card companies all in Delaware, is that they have very relaxed rules relating to charging interest so I guess that makes sense.

I thought the point of this thread was the gambling aspect! It's suddenly become political commentary.

I personally want Romney to win the Presidency because I'd like the Alaskan pipeline opened up and lower gas prices. That's the extent of how much I care who wins.

But from a gambling aspect, Obama. People are sheep and so they'll just vote the incumbent. The fact that 90-something percent of blacks in America are going to vote for Obama saddens me. If we had a female candidate would 90-something percent of women vote for her? People need to make up their own minds and stop voting on party lines, or sex or race or religion.

in 08 approx 95% of African Americans voted for obama; approx 43% of CaucasiansAmericans  voted for obama. ABSOLUTELY SICKENING. and Caucasians Americans are labeled as the racists.

I do not post that often but I think this election is going to go Romney and here's why. Romney leads PA 49-45, VA 50-47, FL 51-46. There are 7 more toss up states...CO,IA,MI,NV,OH,NH and WI. If Romney wins only 1 of these states he wins. In other words if Romney wins FL, VA and PA he will win because there is no way that Obama sweeps the remaining 7 toss up states. NH would give him 272 of the 270 he needs. The odds are in Obama's favor because there is so much emphasis on who wins OH. Because of cities like Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati they think it will go Obama. Romney does not need OH to win. Right now if you take each candidates leans and solids Romney leads 206 to 201. That leaves 10 states with 131 votes. Romney gets FL(29), VA(13) and PA(20) that puts him at 268. He only needs one state. He's favored now for CO(9) but many think NH(4) will fall his way. I realize anything can happen but this seems like a great opportunity.

sorry to tell u but u saw a bs poll. Romney doesnt lead in pa and will not win pa.  Florida is tied right now va is within 1 pt and theres no way he wins ohio so please save your romney winning speeches!

I wrote up a summary in the politics forum that I'd encourage everyone to look at and decide for yourself. 

As a political junkie the polling has been really bad! Public polls do only landlines which skew the electorate to be more old & white than reality. In states with heavy Latino populations they don't poll people speaking Spanish. This really comes into play with liberal Latinos in places like Colorado & Nevada. Cubans are Republican so this isn't in play in Florida as much. Let me give you 3 states as examples of past polls of battleground states that were bad that favored Republicans. 

Virginia:

FL - Romney +2.5%
VA - Tie
CO - Romney +0.2%

CO & VA are trading at about even money on Bovada and Florida is at +170.

The CBO scored a poss 2nd O term back in June.  $9T in new spending based on the extrapolation of the last budget he submitted.  $25T in debt by 2016.  So much debt that even servicing it becomes untenable.  80% taxes in your children's lifetime. And for what?  The creation of a permanent underclass that will always vote Dem. insidious. And you stupid motherfuckers that think you're gonna be saved but when the dollar finally collapses, when you finally choke the life out of the golden goose by being willing participants in this charade of "hope and change," and the Civil Society burns there will be fucking murders. There will be death and destruction and martial law the likes of which this country has never seen.  And our enemies far and wide will attack and kill and destroy.  What then?  "My bad?"

Gas prices coming down because of more drilling is a myth. It's a Republican mantra that sounds good, "drill baby drill", but it means nothing. Gas prices are affected by soooo much more than just supply. In addition, the amount of oil we could receive from the pipeline would be less thank a half a percent of what we actually consume. 

99.9% of our oil would still come from foreign countries.

Let us focus on the stats. I got Romey at +370 and he is no leading the race. Statistics favor the new candidate when the incumbent is losing. Win

IMO the best bets (bovada line) are Obama -205 to win and -115 to win Colorado and -270 to win Nevada. Nevada is high but polls drastically understate Democratic strength. For example Obama and Harry Reid were under estimated by nearly 7% in the final polling average to the actual results. 

Best of luck to you. My Obama path to victory of 270 is:

Kerry States (including WI & NH) = 245 + NM (5) + IA (6) + NV (6) and either CO (9) or OH (18) seals the deal. He can win without FL, NC and VA. Obama is winning in OH which makes a Romney victory incredibly difficult. No Republican has ever won without winning Ohio and I don't see Romney winning Ohio.

America is one of the world's largest oil producers, and close to 40 percent of U.S. oil needs are met at home. Most of the imports currently come from five countries: Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela and Nigeria.

It won't matter because he is going to lose. The Obama people on here just do not know the numbers. I don't know if it's because they are very young or just not very intelligent. The people and organizations that every election correctly predict the outcomes when we get this close are all calling for a Romney victory. This is all about momentum now and Romney is the one who has it.

All I can say is I had Gore to win not sure of the price bet $500 think he was a small favorite.

Day of the voting polling showed Gore way ahead.. where I was betting back in the day (the greek) odds went to -500 or +480 for BUSH.

We know how that ended.

Take polls with a grain of salt,.

After the 3rd debate Obama will be moving up a bit in price, from there you HEDGE your bet and break even on that 5,000 you lost on PITT.

I wouldn't care if Obamination cut taxes on the rich 100 % it doesn't do much good. Oh wait he did cut there taxes, by putting them on unemployment. I guess it is true if you don't work you don't pay taxes

Just watched a pretty good electoral count on TV.

Based on all the data right now if Obama wins Michigan, Iowa and Ohio, that gets him the win by 1 electoral vote.  Sounds like they will campaign there hard til the end. Romney needs to take several toss-up states, but he desperately needs Florida.  He will probably campaign there a lot, but the Obama campaign is willing to concede that state and not waste money there.  Currently, both sides agree that Romney is leading Florida, Obama is leading Michigan, Iowa, and Ohio...other states are too close to call like Nevada, Colorado, Pennsylvania, etc.  However, expect a lot of Romney in Florida, and lots of Obama in the midwest.  I think the books have the lines priced right on these two.  I put money on Obama twice based on the odds...I'm planning on hedging if something weird happens in the debates, though I suspect the debates will be a draw and I'll end up sitting tight on those wagers.

One last thing I read in Time Magazine that isn't good for Romney backers.  A lot of republican money has pulled out of the Romney campaign and they are now supporting house and senate candidates hoping to control the Congress.  As we all know, money controls politics...it looks like the money advantage Romney had is now a draw at best for him.
