I'm making my biggest play on the NFL season tomorrow:
Skins -1 for 5 units
Just love this spot for Washington as they are playing well despite losing 3 in a row. Their last 3 games were against Dallas, Philly, and N Orleans, 3 top NFC team and they lost all 3 by a total of 7 points. Defensively, they are one of the best, allowing only 312 yards per game. Offensively, they are playing better as Campbell has settled down, plus they run the ball well against a Raider team that is allowing 4.6 yards per rush.
A big factor for me is that Oakland is coming off an monster road upset win over a rattled Steeler team. We say the normal Oakland team for 3 quarters, then an amazing 4th quarter performance that is a pure anomaly in my opinion. In my opinion, I don't think Oakland will repeat that perfomance for another year or so. No doubt, Gradkowski is a solid improvement at QB, but I just see a letdown performance this week.
I can't see the Oakland crowd being too excited about Washington coming to town, so if the Skins can get a good start like I think they will, the crowd will be out of it. I like the Skins by 10 points.

This might be one of the most narrowly thought out write-ups I've seen. You mention the Raiders coming in sky-high off their win against the recently validated fraudulent Steelers, yet you manage to completely ignore the Redskins unconscionable collapse at home against the undefeated Saints. They had the Saints by the balls, primed to erase their undefeated season--which, no doubt, would have been a season-defining accomplishment for the Skins--but instead wilted in the face of success and surrendered the miraculous comeback. So, you want to back that team coming off that type of loss, traveling cross-country to play a joke of a team like the Raiders? Oh, yeah, they should be real focused for this one.
Normally, I'd pass on this loser franchise despite the favorable situation. But, quite honestly, last week's come-from-behind late-game victory showed us that with Gradkowski at the helm, this team isn't going to just lay down with no fight the way they did with JaMarcus. This Gradkowski-led team is a lot grittier and should be set to DEFEND THIS HOUSE against a vulnerable Skins team traveling cross-country, ready to mail in this season.

this is the play of the season? Charlie you said it yourself they have played 3 close games in a row vs. better teams. This would be the spot they have a letdown on the road. Oakland has some life lately with their change in QB. Also, Hall and Haynesworth are both out this week. I wouldn't trust the Raiders either to win any game but there has to be a bettter GOY

At first, I was going to be the better person, but after some thought, I'm going to stoop to your level. How can you come into someone's thread and criticize my write-up by calling it narrow-minded. I could have just said Skins -1, but I added some thoughts to my thread. Yes, I think they can be focused against a joke team like the Raiders. That is my opinion and you can certainly disagree. But don't come in here and call my write-up narrow-minded you a$$hole.

My my, people are really something on this board Testy on one hand, thin skinned on the other. Whatever................
I agree Charlie, not that I'm a trend player but here's one that will back up your play that I found on another site.
SYSTEM PLAY OF THE WEEK.... Go against any home team if both teams were dogs of 9 or more points last week. 2000-2009 19-3 86% 5-0 this Year This Week's Play: Go Against: Oakland PLAY ON:WASHINGTON
With all the love that Oakland is getting here I think this is one to take a look at.
I like Washington as well here because thier defense is much better than Pittsburgh was last week and Campbell is beginning to come around a bit.
Just my two cents....now let's be civil boys.

These 2 teams has been given pretty tough schedules, Stats wise the Skins are a better team, Raiders do find a way to win and Skins is the opposite. Give the Skins credit for hanging in there and new Raider QB for turning around the offense.
Laying off the game, if I had to choose, would side with you.

Good Luck Charlie!
Skins 3 tough loses to NO, Philly, and Cowboys.
Raiders 2 great wins against Pit and Cin.

How can the Skins have anything left after just giving everything they had and coming up short in their self-proclaimed "super bowl" in addition to having played two hard fought division games prior to that ? What motivation do they have now to travel cross-country and face a non-conference foe in Oakland ?
Add to that the Skins have the Giants and Dallas on deck...this is the ultimate flat spot.

Nothing personal here, bro. There's no immunity because it's your thread. The point of this forum is to discuss these games so we can all beat the man. I used the phrase narrow-minded because you did, in fact, post a lengthy little write-up without acknowledging the game's most glaring reality. GL with your play.

Listen, I don't mind replies that disagree, but I felt you went over the line a bit by using "narrow-minded.
Enough on that. I just read your thread about the over in the Niners game, and I liked your thoughts. I can see that you take your capping seriously and I just might tail along with your play. Good luck,

Pete,
Glaring reality??? This is the NFL.

hmmmm... whether or not you care, you are betting against one of those trends that comes up only a handful of times each year, but has historically been a very high % play...
play on a home dog against a team coming off an OT home loss... very rare occurrence, but hits at a very high rate in the NFL...

Good luck with the Skins - I 'm a little leary after all those close losses this year that they may not have much in the tank. I've seen Oakland look just terrible and they beat teams liek Philly and Pitts. Tough game for me to read but hope you cash.
