Did you know that when the Giants beat the Pats in 07 the books lost a record 2.5 Million dollars that day. That wont happen in 2012
NY covered 7 of their last 8 games
NE covered 3 out of their last 7 but have been big favorites
Then their is a tiny fact that no NFL team has won the super bowl with only 9 wins. Giants are fighting NFL Super Bowl History.
Spent a lot of time getting ready for this game and there are so many reasons to like the Giants.Their Pass rush- their WR core and of course Eli Manning. The guy has played very well especially against the Packers.
As far as the Patriots, Brady had his big day vs the Broncos and that was his best game of the year, People have mainly forgotten that game for some reason. All of the talk was on Tebow and Brady was kind of an after thought. He had a week off to prepare for what was at the time a very good Defense.
Ok maybe not Baltimore good, maybe not NY or SF good but they were not giving up many points and helped Tebow get that team into the post season, they were playing as good as anyone. Brady tore them apart and launched an assault on them and the game was over before it even started. 5 TD's on 5 drives or something liek that.
Now all of the talk is on the Giants vaunted Defense and Eli Manning and once again Brady is an after thought.. Unlike the last super bowl, A far cry from 07 when everyone under the sun loved the pats and the Giants surprised the world. Well there is no surprise this time. And the Giants are talking like the game is already won - cocky to be sure - ok play the game
Some say the Pats shouldn't be here and the Ravens had won that game- I had the ML for Balty so deep down I am one of those people. -but I can not discredit that amazing defensive play to knock away the ball from lee in the end zone. that's no fluke, thats Great Defense and a missed FG, well that happens. Much like getting not one but 2 fumbles on punts - one of which the helped the Giants get to this game.. Luck is part of the game. Both teams are lucky to be here if you think about it.
Gronk is hurt but you know he will play and you know he will be a threat in the Redzone. you still have to guard him and he may have a better game than people think. Hernandez will benefit by him in the game and he may see single coverage. If not then you leave Welker one on one and he is a real threat regardless. Not much talk about the NE WR core this week.
NE can run the ball and I think they will do a bunch of it to settle down the pass rush. Ben Garvis Green could have a good day
Guess what. The Patriots have a defense also - and a good one. Playing their best Football of the year - and with all the talk about getting to Brady, what about getting to Manning? the guy is not infallible and is kind of due for a bad game. The OL better play sharper than they did in candlestick or Manning will be in trouble.
NE Defense pretty much shut down the best runner in the league in Ray Rice so I think thye can contain Jacobs & Bradshaw who is also hurt.
The Giants secondary is decent but not stellar and Brady can have success if he gets protection from his under-rated OL
