Like I said you need to talk to the talent evaluators on every team because they all do mock drafts to figure what will be available to their team and base it on what they think other teams will do, I don't do a mock draft based on what the team will take, I do it based on what i think they should take, it is not like the teams in the NFL do a good job every year , Gholston being a good example, should have been a middle to late first and Matt Jones who shouldn't have gone in the first. That is not a great year in the Nfl for a first round pick believe me, the Jags would have kept him if he was so impressive, they also see him in practice., they have very little at WR.
Cincinnati is desperate at Wr and get him for nothing, which is good. I am critical of mock drafts, based on what I have seen which is very little, if you look at what I did comment on you will see that. I can't comment on oline men because you never get to see them. I can tell you this when i see a player in person and on a lot of film, I can make the call, done it for years as a winning head coach, position coach, defensive coodinator. Last year I stepped out the team I coached to a winning season with very little recruiting was taking too much time out of my life and my son and most of the guys i knew had moved on. I got calls to comeback from players as the defensive coordinator, i watched them lose their opening game. They asked me again and so I did what they asked we went on to go 7 and 3 the rest of the way. I guess it is no big deal but the team they lost to in the first game never won another game, i know what i am doing. Anyway talk is cheap and I could be full of crap, so lets go with that.
Like I said you stick with your suspened player pick ups, I will stick with what i think teams will do in the draft.
Here is a simple fact on what is true in the NFL, you are what you are. the jets were nowhere close to 12 and 4. they were closer to 8 and 8, that is a fact. Try to figure out what you think your team needs in the draft and then watch the players develop that they didn;t draft. That is what people do in their Mocks. I tend to concentrate on what teams in the NFL I have seen need.
The jets need more pressure out of their D line sometimes you need to sit back when you mix it up and it is nice to still get pressue of course jenkins being healthy would be nice but his health is a problem, I think their LB'ers are quite good. If i was their coach i would try and get Gholoston to put on wieght and become a 3/4 end, if he is not the pass rusher they thought, maybe he can be a run stuffing end with that strength. They desperatly need a WR to two,They also need a corner or two, one early one late, you always need corners when your a defensive team. I am not sure about leonard, smart player, possibly a liability in man coverage but knows the system, kerry rhodes was already benched doesn't seem to fit in the system, maybe they could move him to Cleveland for a late pick( a mock guess). henderson coming back will very nice. Thomas from the pats will become a free agent, can't see them brining him back. Obviously he would be a good fit for Ryan and highly motivated against pats.Shepard became very questionable and is probably big bucks, I think Lowery is a decent player but not great in man coverage, could be a decent slot guy.
I do think we agree on this the injury to greene and the 2 CB's in the game against the colts was a huge deal, contrary to what the media said. Very few teams can afford to lose one starting corner , let alone two in one game. The difference drop off in the NFL from 2nd, 3rd corner to 4th,5th and 6 is off the charts. i don't know if they would have won but i think they would have been right there.
This is what i do as a mock, i have no idea who the jets will draft and best player available comes into it. I go with what i think I know.
