If Pittsburgh signed Kaep they would lose 60% of their fanbase...who see him as a traitor.

I don't think he is a traitor but since when can workers of any company bring their political and social agendas and use the workplace as a soapbox? If I did that, I would have been fired. 

The nation is already terribly divided as it is...on the verge of maybe a hot civil war...I have my own strong views that I would reach for a gun for. Why bring any of that to a sporting contest? Oh well...others will say he has free speech etc...but at the workplace? We are trading our time and effort for money and are under someones thumb. 

Of course there are bad cops but all races suffer from them (I get it and I sympathize)...yes, to the point of murder. I get it...but organize movements on your own time and on your own time...just one mans opinion.

Can someone explain why the NFL had to set this up, as opposed to individual teams bringing Squidward in for a workout and as he now learned after 3 years how to read a defense?

These teams are privately owned businesses not public utilities and as such they make their own rules. That being said, the people in the stadium can stand, sit, or kneel during the playing of the anthem...nobody can force them to stand.

They paid the price of admission so they are there out of choice...the players are there under contract as hired employees and as such are binded by rules of conduct at their workplace like everyone else. The players are not free to voice their political protest as they are under contract to abide by the rules of their employer. 

If one of the rules is that all players stand during the anthem, then if he wants to work for that employer, he stands. The owners did not even make that demand...now the networks don't televise the national anthem cause they fear the blowback from the nationwide viewing audience. 

Employers are free to hire and fire anyone they want for any reason that they want unless it is proven to be based on race or some other unfair designation. If the employer deems any player's behavior negatively impacting his business' bottomline (and it did) then he has a perfect right as owner of said business to end Kaepernick's appearance on the field.

This all never went to trial and the NFL decided to settle this grievance out of court. Kaepernick did not win his lawsuit as you stated in your post.

If any team is so foolish as to sign Kaepernick, then that team will suffer the consequences. He is a polarizing figure and his presence in any of the stadiums will be met with political and economic blowback from the fanbases around the USA.

The owners know that and after the shenanigans and thuggery of Antonio Brown they don't wish to be held captive by any player's tude or political beliefs. We shall see what transpires...Kaepernick was not a starter when this all went down so he was underachieving on the field before he decided to kneel down. 

See now you are being ridiculous...freedom of religion and freedom of speech was not being attacked. The players after they enter the stadium are standing already so no extra effort is required on their part to keep standing during the playing of a 3 minute song...besides for the money and the perks that these overpaid freaks get, asking for a little compliance doesn't strike me or any reasonable person as being harsh unless you want to throw $hit in the game. 

Lots of people want to make everything about politics and their hatred of Trump these days which is really what this is really all about...as quiet as it is kept. 

I trust the owners will not sign this jabroni and start up the fires of division...we are already a nation badly divided and on the brink of a hot civil war.

Doubleup4life, the mere mention of the President's name and you went insane on me...which of course proves my point.

Many black men and women and other minorities have served this nation proudly in the military and in all other sectors of the economy including the educational and medical professions and while our nation is far from perfect and we have suffered from racial bias, ignorance, and blind hatred we have also made some big strides over the years too. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. 

Some polls are showing growing support among blacks and hispanics for the job President Trump has been doing in invigorating the economy and bringing about full employment and bringing manufacturing jobs back from foreign shores especially including China. Prohibiting illegal immigration protects the American workers from job loss as does the doing away with bad trade deals. I miss the days when high quality American made products were available and I hope one day that they will return.

It is you who live in a dream world if you are unaware of the political hatred and division that exists in the country. Some people put their heads in the sand and call it peace. Why is our national anthem played at professional sporting events any way?

I never had a job that played the national anthem before we worked.

And why is there such a military presence at professional sporting events? Marketing, that's why.

I have no answer but I do love the question... on the second one, the military/industrial complex figures that a lot of young men are watching sporting events and they need more cannon fodder for their criminal wars.
