MrBator: You have less brain that I first thought. You are soo wrong about, "Letting him play in the team's next game sends the unmistakable message that skipping practice with no phone call is acceptable"
It sends the message that you have to put football in place of family.. It makes the players lose respect for the management, which creates very bad team morale. It will divide the team, players vs management.. " A kingdom divided amongst itself, will surley fall".
Tampa on the other hand..Gruden gave Bryant the decision if he wants to play or not when his 3 month old son died last week .. I like that, it sends good feelings if you're other players on the team.. To know if your family is hurting, we all feel your pain.. Not bash you on the head, take your paycheck, and make you look like a selfish cold hearted-beast
Are you actually comparing Bryant's situation to Burress's? Come on.

The fine wasn't for missing practice, it was for not contacting team or be available to be contacted. When they re-sign him over off-season, they had warned him about this kind of behavior and he agreed about it.
This was not isolated incident as teams don't dock 2 wks pay cause of missing 1 practice.
Family emergencies happen, sure, no problem, perfectly understandable...
The reason he was suspended is what I bolded and put in red for you above. Are some of you people that freaking stupid to even ask or what? He was NOT fined 'cause he had a family emergency...If I had some sort of family emergency and didn't show up to work for 2 days without calling anybody or answering my phone you're damn right I'd have hell to pay at work. And the fact that he's been suspended 40-50 times with the Giants doesn't surprise me and makes the suspension even more appropriate. He's a guy that's never had a father or father figure in his life...just like others like Ocho Cinco, Chris Henry, Pacman, T.O., Vince Young...anybody see a pattern here? All these guys have issues, a father or father figure makes a world of difference in a persons life.

You forgot to mention Dallas is my co-favorite team because I agree with Terrel Owens also.
CO FAVORITE TEAM? shut the fuck up....you can't be taken serious anymore.........why don't you root for the EAGLES and SKINS too? WON'T have to wait more than a year for a division title....silly kid.....and yes I think your a kid...MEN don't root for 2 teams let alone 2 teams from the NFCEAST.
Samuelsosa: You're so quick to fire your gun, I was being sarcastic. I was merely trying to make people understand that I do not have a favorite football team. I am a football fan, and there are some stories that I have an opinion on. It just so happens the players belong to Giants and Dallas, and people assume b/c I agree with one of the players, that I must be a fan of the team. That is just not true.

Tuxman: I was comparing them for the fact that their issues are family related. It's not the best example, I should have used Vince Young's situation.., but Family problems have big effect on people. and the Giants were quick to fire their gun like Samulsosa without getting all the facts. Vince Young got into such a heated argument with his family, his mom became famous.
L8krsfan: I understand the reason he was suspended was b/c he did not communicate with the team when he is supposed to.
However the root of that problem (not communicating with team) is the Domestic problem he had at home. I'm telling you, it was serious, so serious that football was not on his mind at the time. It was probably such a heated argument, he didn't care about football at the time. (just like Vince Young couldn't be contacted, and people thought he was suicidal). I read an article but can't seem to find it anymore, it got into detail about what the domestic issue was about. You are right about his past, thats probably why they acted so fast, but it doesn't make them right!
Also.. the fact of not growing up with a father is sad to me.. I don't know what life would have been like without a father, and I'm not about to assume or guess what it would have been like, although it probably does have psychological effects on people.

the Giants mgmt is just lightn a flame under his @$$, give him a little rest, while we get to beat up on the seahawks,
& besides he just got his contract extension so hes locked in the Giants know what there doin unlike AL DAVIS
Don't sleep on the Seahawks, they FINALLY get two REAL receivers in the lineup as Engram and Branch return this week. PLUS, the G-Men looked like shit two weeks ago @ home vs. the Bungles...and that was WITH Plaxico! Hmmmm...

It feels good to be right. Burress took care of family first as it should be. NFL over-reacted and they know it.. They cut the fine in half, but couldn't take it all way because they would look bad.. Anyway heres the story.
Burress is a good guy

Yeah, Seahawks got pounded for sure...I think Hasselbeck getting hurt early affected that one quite a bit, but, the Giants definitely brought their "A" game last Sunday.
One thing to remember though about the Bengals, that is the same Bengals team that took the Giants to OT (with Burress) and should've beaten them in regulation.
