Has any team EVER played back to back weeks with 87 defensive snaps and 37+ minutes on the field?

And that's not a sarcastic question I posed in the thread title, I'm totally unsure if any defense has ever had to bare such circumstances in back to back weeks in the history of the NFL.

great point here plus the travel and everything else. Ray Ray emotion can only carry a team so far

Get real. 8 days rest playing the late slot for the biggest game of their life.

Last 45 minutes of that 75 minute game last week...the Ravens defense gave up 7 points to the Broncos offense.  7.  Were not tired at all in altitude on short rest.  Now 8 days with more adrenaline than they will ever have.  Non-factor imo.

We're on the same page here raems. I think the ravens D will be gassed and they will get worked this weekend. Blowout looming in foxborough.

Stuckey, respect your opinion but just agree to disagree here. Few points-1. Denver stopped scoring because Baltimore realized that manning wasn't a threat in the vertical passing game before halftime as the temps kept dropping and his body fatigued. That combined with lack of a running game will cause minimal offensive output. Yes, Baltimore got stops, but it wasn't some sort of phenomenal performance. 2. The fact that Baltimore eventually got stops does not in any way change how long they were on the field for and how many plays they had to run down. Whether or not I succeed on two tests in two weeks, I will be equally tired after the tests if I spent 40% more energy than usual on each test in successive weeks. Yes, they have an extra day, but notice that I didn't even account for the emotion of the game. Going to New England facing bellichick whom they already beat once this year, and after players ran around crying, hugging, kissing, and moaning about spiritual resolve like they defeated the most improbable odds ever, it adds up very poorly for Baltimore. 

If New England doesn't take their foot off the gas in this game they cover. 

You will remember the two TDs on punt return and kick off return and they still win.

raems, i think that's a good question, i wouldn't downplay it at all as some people are.   i would also add that, at least at the start of the season, baltimore had the 24th oldest defense in the league. 

but that's a lot of points.  i don't get the line being at 9- given recent history. 

I've heard the argument that after playing in that altitude they should be even stronger. The lungs expand after that kind of experience. Plus 8 days rest and a trip to the Super Bowl on the line and let's not forget revenge.  

Actually what makes them having the OLDEST D is Ed Reed at 34 and Ray at 37 everyone else is 30 and younger.  

30 isn't that young in football and to say that issue is no big deal except for ed reed and ray lewis means that maybe it is a big deal. 

NO i said that ed reed and Ray raise the AVERAGE age of the D that is why they get labeled as OLD. 9 of the 11 are 30 or under actually only one is even 30.  

i know what you are saying but my point is that age may exacerbate what raems is saying and you cited two of their most important defensive players that may be the most susceptible. 

i don't know if it will matter or not, but i wouldn't quickly dismiss it as others have.

Once again, a ridiculous reason why the pats are going to roll...   After 8 days of rest and with revenge on their minds and with their team emotion the ravens are going to FALL APART because they had 20 more snaps on defense than is typical over the previous 2 weeks???

who in here said NE was going to roll because of this?  why can no one read.  in fact, raems and i both indicated that this wasn't a reason to put a large bet on the game, but it is one factor to consider for anyone who actually tries to think these things through.

The average play only lasts about 7 seconds, so the defense only PLAYED about 6 minutes more than usually.

Plus, the team doesn't even have to go into work until tomorrow.

IF anything the ravens had a scrimmage against the NO HUDDLE. that has to help. 

ray lewis led the GAME in tackles in both games so far ... old is old however he still can play the game at a high level for 2 more games. one way or another we'll see a tearful end to ray lewis' career against N.E whether he can turn back the hands of time one more time and send the 2 best quarterbacks of our time into the offseason or not remains to be seen but give credit where credit is due Ray Lewis is a first ballot hall of famer and he'll have his men ready to storm the field of battle make no mistake about it ... he'll record another 15 tackles force a fumble in my opinion.

I remember last year.. The Patriots were fresh off a total dismantling of the Broncos and Tim Tebow.. The Ravens have problems with a Rookie led Texans squad the week before....

The line dropped at NE-8  and all I heard all day was Easy money.. Most on my job couldn't understand how I was talking about the biggest bet of the year on the Ravens
