Giants backers - you have less than 24 hours to talk me out of betting the Patriots

here is my main argument, which should talk you all into hedging out of your pats wagers

I like the Giants at my +13.5.

 

Eli will feel the pressure to put up points......He'll create points for one team or the other.  That plus an easy 30 from the Pats O without any help makes it easy for me.

 

Only way it stays under....and best chance for Giants to win SU....is if they go straight down the field for 7 to start it and then get a stop.  Then maybe they can try to work the clock.

 

But NE's defense isn't bulletproof.

 

Muhammad and Delhomme set records against em.  Every one of their SB wins has been tight.

 

Nobody's run on the Giants, Pats won't come out trying to.  Spread offense, nobody can man up Moss and Stallworth is a load quicker than NYG's 3rd best R.W.  RW was old 2 years ago. 

 

The Giants will score an easy 20....and the Pats will score an easy 30.

During the last 9 weeks of football, including playoffs, the Pats were 2-7 against the spread. The difference between this period and the first 8 weeks of football is that the Pats were throwing the ball downfield when they were covering the spread. In last 9 weeks, they had to play more of a west coast style due to rain, wind, snow and freezing temps. During this time, the Pats played in Foxboro, Baltimore, Philly, Buffalo, NY and Miami(rain). My point is that they will be playing in a warm environment in which weather won't affect New England's offensive game plan. Yes, they will mix in the run with Maroney but Belicheck's style is to throw long and score a bunch. He is obviously not a conservative coach. He doesn't have a gracious style. He will rub your nose in the dirt. Another point I will make is that New England is equipped with an offensive line to handle NY's defensive front. New England's line is the best in the league. Every time the tv cameras have been on Brady this year, he hasn't had a bead of sweat in his hair or on his face and his equipment manager hasn't even had to wash his jersey. If NY does decide to try and put pressure on Brady, NY's secondary will be left to play man to man! Are you kidding me! On paper, the Giants don't match up well against New England and on the field, I believe we'll see the same result as the last 18 weeks. New England 34-NY20

I actually bet AGAINST the Patriots in their last two games BUT there were several instances that they could have beaten that line in both games EXCEPT for the weather.  I look for him to have a great game against the Giants even if the Giants play well.  He can thread those passes in to the receivers today when the wind is not making his passes go astray.  I look for the Patriot's receivers to hold onto the ball better than they did during those "weather" games.  At least, that is the way I am betting.

really liked the pats before i got on here and saw that everyone and there mother was taking the pats.  another covers bloodbath!!!

the difference in this game isn't gonna be the giants o versus the pats d...it's gonna be just the opposite.  if you take the pats first 8 games...they were outscoring teams by an average of 41-17...with no game being within 2 touchdowns...and only 1 being within 3 touchdowns.  8-0 against the spread and brady putting up cartoon like numbers (2431 passing (304 per), with 30 tds and only 2 ints!!!).  the last 10 have been a different story.  defense is still only giving up 18 per...but offense is down 10 to 31 per.  only 3 of those 10 have been by 2 td's or more...and 5 of the 10 have been within single digits!!!   brady's numbers are still impressive...but human!!!  (2846...285/per...with 25 td's and 9 picks!!!)   2-8 ats in that period!!! 

 

if the giants can slow down moss...hit him at the line...and basically take him out of the game like the jags and sd did...then i think you have a ballgame.  do i think the giants will win...i hope not...i'm a hug pats fan and i don't think we'll ever get the chance to see perfection again....do i think they cover....absolutely!!!!

I can't help but think that the extra week off may have taken some of the rhythm from the Giants...they were on a roll no doubt and now they have a lot of young guys that find themselves thinking about the game, that is part of a huge "event" and maybe it will be a little overwhelming.  My guess is the Pats will try to start fast and put the game in Eli's hands and try to force the G-Men to abandon the running game.  The I am sure Belichek will probably show some kind of bracket coverage on Plaxico and make another receiver make plays to beat them.  Just my two cents.  GL to all in whatever you play. 

They have to do the same thing they have done over the past 3 games.

 

Do not turn the ball over.

 

Run the ball with Jacobs and Bradshaw he did play in the season finale.

 

Do not get down early and take the running game away.

 

Get pressure with Osi Tuck and Strahan

 

 

I am not looking for a win just a cover. They have to play a perfect game to win but not to cover. I will have other bets such as Giant ML but will back it up with some NE plays

i personally see only 1 matchup favoring giants and that is the nice tailback counterpart of jacobs and bradshaw v. Ne shitty old linebackers. i believe this edge is diminished though by seau's drive and determination and likely retirement he will leave it all on the field and will not run around any blocks tonight + bilicheck has had an extra week to scheme away this advantage, the giants must have early success to open up the deep middle passing game and exploit Ne overated safeties (harrison is a gamer i know)

 

that being said i believe if you like the giants just put your money on the over. you may be wrong and still get the W. but i dont see any scenario where the giants win this game in a low scoring affair ie to win they will have to put up 30+ pts and is there anyway they one beat ne by more than 7pts? and second can they even hope to contain NE. my answer is no to both. (sorry to disagree with that mensa memb plaxico)
