Football rules question, downing punts in the NFL and College football

okay...

My buddies and I got into this over the weekend.

I was saying something about how in college down near the end zone the punting team can go into the end zone and bat the ball back into the field to be downed. It may be they can put 1-foot in the end zone and bat the ball back but I am sure there is some sort of difference between the sport levels and dowing the ball in regards to the endzone...

someone who knows the rule please help clear this help....either correct me or validate me, thanks!

right but i know there is something, like the guy can go 1 foot into the endzone and bat it back or something when in the NFL you can't touch the endzone at all...

come on now your getting silly. what thile in the process of the play the ref gets out his ruler and places it at the feet of the guy trying to defend the ball to see if he is a foot or longer behind the goal line. time to retire this argument

I mean 1 foot like one of his feet, but not 2 feet...compared to the NFL you can't step into the endzone at all
