for everyone saying they cant believe an 8-8 team got into the playoffs over a possible 11-5 team dont forget the chargers that made the playoffs at 8-8 did beat those possible playoff teams with better records, the jets and the patriots, pretty badly... like roughly 20 points...and the chargers being 8-8 have lost to ind, atl, pitt, miami, carolina, den (bad call).. all playoff teams by a total 0f 20 points and all coming in the final plays of the game mostly in the regular season.   now they come off a huge win against indy proving its hard to beat a team twice in a year.  If Ben stays in this game through the entire time, SD wins. SD is not overrated and will put a definite fight up against a good defense and a horrible offense..... i would love to see ben try and throw against SD after they held the MVP in check.  He had a decent  game but def. should have lit the chargers up with the horrible secondary.  Ben is bound to turn the ball over either fumble or int and it will be costly.  And they sure wont run the ball on SD.  Too many weapons on SD to say the steelers will crush SD.  and like i said its hard to beat a team twice especially when they have a lot of confidence coming into the game.  They're riding high right now while pittsburgh is too busy loving ben then he gets hurt and everyone loves leftwich.  It'll be a good game and def. no blowout in any circumstance.  Chargers win outright

I don't know how a team finishing the season with an 8-8 record could be considered overrated..They deserve to be where they are end of story.  The whole getting in over teams who have a better record is just people trying to stir the pot.  There is nothing wrong with the playoff system..If you want to wine NE fans, how about when you played in the worse division in football for years when you were winning your superbowls?  6 easy wins every year..If people think they need to change the system, change the alignments of the teams...

Bottom line is S.D. is a 9-8 team.  I don't know who is stating they are world beaters or how the words San Diego and overrated ever got attached together..They are what there record indicates.  Now IMO they beat a very overrated team in the Colts, but none the less they deserve to be playing in this game Sunday, they earned it...They are going to lose of course to a much better complete team, but they defintely will bring it...Biased views lead to ignorant comments

You got it...and don't forget the 46 sacks he took (2nd most in the NFL) this season which added up to 284 yards lost for the Steelers (also 2nd most in the NFL). Thank God for him he's got that great defense to ride...

How is a team that cannot move that ball and does not protect their quaterback EVER expect to blow out a team

The Chargers defense versus an unproductive Steelers offense is a lot more one sided than Pitts phenomenal D vs San Diegos offense.

It´s going to be a close game, a very good game

Good to see the Charger Nation rise up like this....And yes..we are playing well at just the right time...I hope we get the chance to show the other Manning why it was a mistake to refuse us when we drafted him...Karma indeed

Well said indeed.  Pittsburgh o-line is a freaking joke.  I'll be hoping Pitsburgh can do it on Sunday, but no chance am I giving six points.

Philip Rivers is a fine quarterback, better than fine if you look at his NFL-best 105.5 passer rating and 34 touchdown passes. But he struggled big-time in an 11-10 loss to the Steelers at Heinz Field Nov. 16. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and linebacker James Harrison had interceptions and Harrison sacked Rivers for a safety. Rivers' passer rating was a season-low 44.4. It didn't help that, even with Tomlinson, the Chargers rushed for just 66 yards.

The Steelers, meanwhile, had one of their better offensive days, although you wouldn't know it by the score. They had the ball for a season-best 36 minutes, 31 seconds. Roethlisberger threw for 308 yards with no interceptions. Parker ran for 115 yards on 25 carries. Wide receiver Hines Ward had 11 catches for 124 yards. Blame the Steelers' season-high 13 penalties for 115 yards and tip your hat to the Chargers for keeping the outcome in doubt by sacking Roethlisberger four times and stopping running back Mewelde Moore on fourth-and-goal at the San Diego 1. But the Chargers won't be able to survive that kind of domination Sunday.

24-10 Steelers.

Yeah.... Rivers breaking Dan Fout's record (33 TD passes in a season 1981) for most TD's by a Charger QB and passing for over 4000 yards and ending the regular season as the NFL's highest rated QB....after major knee surgery...what an overrated slacker.

-Bolts rushed for a team record (held since 1963) 289 yards vs. Denver.

-That slacker LT now is second on the NFL all-time rushing list (4th all-time TD's)

Sproles was one yard away from breaking a NFL record for most combined yards in a playoff game held since the early 1960's..

Scifres set new charger record for single-season punting net average and set an NFL playoff record in the INDY game..

Overrated??  If anything..they are underrated...

a7a, it was in the script this year to have brady go out for the year.  That way they wouldn't be in contention to win the super bowl again and the spygate drama would go away.  SPYGATE was not good for football and having the Patriots not go to the playoffs helped that go away for a while.

I agree - The Chargers are better than you think

Nice counter points diego.

I Agree - The Chargers are under-rated and that is always the way to go when it comes to gambling.

Why hate so much 2000?  Man, go ahead and bet all of your cash on Pitt - It will help boost the line to 6.5 for the Charger backers.

Did the Chargers, errrr  the officials steal all your money last week.

Ya the most winningest QB in his first 5 seasons in the NFL is over rated.  Wow.  Youngest super bowl MVP.  He has the second highest passer rating last year.  Yeah he had an off year but tis funny how selective some people's memories are.  At this time last year none of you could say anything.  Next year if he has the second higihest passer rating what than?  Yeah he plays on a team with great defence but he still wins.  If it was so easy to win on a team with great defences ask Kyle Boller how he did?!?!?!

Could you imagine an 8-8 (should be 9-7) team even getting into the Superbowl?  That would be amazing!

I think the weather and atmosphere at Heinz Field will be a large advantage for the Steelers.  I have been to both Qualcomm and Heinz field...trust me fans in the burgh are the real deal!  At San Diego you always have both teams pretty well represented.

This should be a good game!

BOL to each of you!

Well Boller didn't have Hines Ward, Willie Parker, Jerome Bettis, Antwaan Randle-El, etc. at his disposal either...

WOW deja vu all over again..
If I didn't know any better I would say that we were playing the Colts all over again.
Nobody gave us a chance last week and look at them Colts fans now, blaming the officials and not their own players for a couple of retarded penalties... I want all these Steelers fans to man up and show some love to the Chargers next week as we get ready to host the AFC Championship game in our house against the Baltimore Ravens.
Big Bust I mean Ben will be more worried about not getting hurt than  actually WINNING a playoff game.
Prediction
SD 23 Pitt 10
GO CHARGERS....
