I normally don't follow trends (hell I was on the Giants at San Fran when that 13-0 system of beat the Champ then lose said the 9ers were a lock)...

That said real interesting stat

To me it is kind of worthless in that it goes over so many years, that said, it is an interesting stat.
Leads to the idea of over confidence?
I kind of like the team on a roll angle in the bowl and maybe that is in play here?
I am not sure what to make of it...

You have to worry or fade it when mass people start to follow a particular "good" trend in the web.

Yeah like I said that 0-13 when beating the defending Champs was classic.......49ers all the way to the bank! 

Trends are conflicting here IMO.  We have the Pats revenge streak, and this streak.  So which one wins.

The team with the better record is 1-10 ATS in SB's, last 11 with one team having a better record.

I don't think it's over confidence, free agency and a pass happy era have produced weak, weak, teams.

The last no.1 seed to win the SB while covering the spread in every game was 1998-99 Denver, when prior to freeagency it happened many many times.

The last team to dominate throughout the playoffs, winning by an average of 17 pts or more on it's way to winning the SB was 2002-03 Tampa Bay bucs, not a pass happy, high flying offensive team at all but a dominate defensive team, and prior to that year, it was the 2000-01 Ravens another non pass happy high flying offensive team.

SB champs Dominating through the playoffs was routine back prior to free agency and the pass happy era.
