Post pre-season rankings have Chiefs and Eagles #1 and #2 respectively and I see it the same way, at least to start.  Injuries could easily upset the plans though.

I'm a little ambivalent about my prospects in large part because of my success last year.  All good things come to an end sooner or later.  So while I hope for another good season I am preparing more for a fallback to mediocrity..... maybe.....too early to tell.

As for Game #1 of the reg season: Lions @Chiefs

With Kelce doubtful this throws a wrench into the works for KC.  Sure I expect they very likely will come from behind and pull it out late but will they cover 4.5 is an iffy outlook as I see it.  Lions I expect will play inspired and I have little reason to believe the Chiefs defense is any better.  But their O definitely takes a hit w/o Kelce.  We all witnessed Detroit collect themselves last year to finish very strong.  But only faced one top quality team akin to KC in that stretch (Buffalo) losing at home. It was close though!

This is a coin flipper.  PASS.

Will look for in game opportunities if any come available.

KC  the games only turnover luckily to snuff out a Detroit score.

This games still looks close to me with KC holding just a slight edge....

So Lions get the tipped ball pick six to more or less even up the turnover breaks and we have a tie game.

Almost to mid-point of 3Q the game stats are basically even...

Without Kelce and Jones, KC looks no better than the Lions....

My risky first bet of the season.

Normally I back off the first few weeks, and I am breaking my rule here based on long experience.....so I may live to regret this, as it's more of a hunch than handicapping. *Note: I am not suggesting anyone follow my bets...

Soooo  I violated my own time-tested rule against betting in the first few weeks until I see how teams play (ie, good handicapping), and sure enough -  a LOSS to begin the season.  In a rout no less.

Despite the Bears TD to end the 3Q, they are not going to win or even mount a credible comeback. 

The stats are about even but it still won't happen.

Their offense is anemic at best!   The teams sucks.

If Justin Fields was the one calling the plays,  I would blame him.

But Fields isn't the problem. 

Had I waited a few weeks first, as is my rule, I would have known this and avoided the loss... 

Dallas looks impressive in the early going!

It appears the dogs covered the spreads 9 - 5 coming into tonight's game.

First game of the year for both teams.  Offences rusty?

Rogers and new weapons need time to gel, assuming Rogers isn't over the hill.

But hype and homefield should work in JETS favor - at least to a significant degree.

Line is about spot on imo.
