I don't watch or wager on the NBA but I am in fantasy leagues and at the moment all 3 of my teams are a mess with assorted injuries, players getting rest on B2B games and not playing because of soreness lol.
I have never once seen an NHL player miss a game during the season for rest unless its at the end of the year when a particular game means nothing in the standings. Fans pay huge money for NBA tickets only to find out some of the best players in the league don't want to play to get some rest? Really? What are days off for? Don't they play 2,3 or max 4 games in a 7 day week? I wish I could take a random day off at work for rest reasons and I don't make 40 million a year like most of these spoiled brats do.
Can someone here please explain why the NBA allows this to happen?

I forgot to ask about how NBA injury reports work? Do they have a certain time before a game starts to say who is in and who is out? It must make it very difficult to place a wager when half the team is listed as a GTD? I have 6 alone on a fantasy team today that considered GTD this weekend. One player missed a game earlier in the year because he slept funny and his shoulder hurt.

I can't speak on the comparison of NBA to NHL seasons although I'm pretty sure gliding on the ice takes far less toll on your body and has less impact then running. I guess an example would be Steve Nash, towards the end of his career he said there were nights where he couldn't even sit after games because of how wore down his body was.

It is 100% benefit to do it other than the fans paying to see players and they sit. Star players are like an elite QB on a team. You only have 5 guys on the court at once unlike other sports. Star NBA player and QB are the 2 differences makers in sports. In an 82 game season they know playoffs are a whole new season and very few games really matter. PLayoffs is pretty much all that matters.

Hey bud, do you watch hockey at all? The NHL plays 82 games as well but star players never miss a game for rest reasons or for minor injuries like they do in the NBA. NBA star players make 40-50 million a year whereas the star NHL player makes 12-13 million a year. I just couldn't imagine buying an NBA ticket for huge dollars and then finding out a star player is out for rest reasons? I can't comprehend that.

not sure if it makes sense. these people are entertainer athletes. not essential workers who contribute to society. that's where the line should be drawn imo

@thehutman Sure the NHL is a contact sport, but the impact of skating is far less then running and jumping. I have done both. By the sounds of it you expect these athletes to be out there for your entertainment hurt or not. This is more the reason to check the lineup prior to purchasing a ticket to make sure whoever you plan on seeing isn't questionable.

I agree with you hunt - I would never pay for tickets to a regular season game given the high likelihood that the top player(s) wouldn't end up playing.

It has gotten out of hand the last 5 or so years.

It is the LeBron James effect. Even though he is possibly the GOAT, he's one of the primary villains in pussifying the NBA game with his huge influence, he's the one that pushed for the long all star break and eliminating the 4 games in 5 nights that every team would endure once or twice a year. So he giveth and he taketh. Also, this is a society that embraces mediocrity so naturally this permeates into sports as all other aspects. As long as there's widespread sports betting nothing will change, people will bet and of course watch this watered down pig slop shit show day after day

NBA players are at the club until 3-4am. Then it’s hoochie time. They might waltz in around 6pm for 7pm tip.
If you bet the NBA for any length of time you will come to understand that these players are bigger degenerates than the degenerates that actually wager on them.

Star player in NBA more important than NHL even though the NHL is more physical. Also 3 times the money on star players. More time on the court than ice for star players.

I live near Toronto and even though the Raptors suck the tickets sell out very quickly so what your saying isn't an option unless i want to pay scalper prices. I don't think your understanding what I am saying here. NBA players are missing games for rest reasons when they are playing 3 games a week. I understand if a player is legitimately hurt but not for rest.

One last thing. Why can't an NBA star player play on B2B nights? I see tons of guys out for rest reasons in this situation. Is the NBA not a team sport? Why not play a guy 20 minutes a night instead or 30 or 40 if he can't handle that workload? I can't get a Raptor's ticket for under $200 bucks in the nose bleeds.

@thehuntman I get what your saying and I can agree from a consumers perspective. Can't imagine being a Lakers fan with Lebron and AD GTD every game with LA prices.

I think u are missing the point...They can play all 82 games if they wanted to..but what is the point? NBA is different from Hockey..Home court is huge in Hockey..Not so much in the NBA playoffs....U can easily steal home court in the NBA and the cream rises to the top in the playoffs when u have the better players over 7 games...I think it started about 5-6 years ago..Teams were burning themselves out to get the #1 seed, to highest seed possible and then collapsing in the playoffs or having injuries/fatigue.....Nowdays the whole point is to be healthy and fresh when the playoffs start..Does it matter if you are the 3 seed or 6 seed?

You are right except home ice means nothing

On average, NBAers smash 8-10 different sugar walls per 24hrs, 7 days a week...they need more time to recover their juices than any other professional athlete,, none of them can compete with empty balls of seamen

Basketball home court means more than any other sport not sure why you think differently? The point here is resting players that only play 3 games a week on average is ridiculous for fans paying huge dollars to go see a live game.
