When Sasha is in the game (which I think he will get some more minutes this series then Radmonivich at least thats what I would do if I was coaching the Lakers) he will more then likely be on ray allen and kobe will be on pierce. Kobe is quicker then PP so he should be able to stay in front of him. If Paul is hitting those fade away jump shots he is going to get his. Now on defense Kobe will go for 30+ every night, not 20+.  Pau has a few inches on Perkins so I think hes going to be able to do much better then he did against the spurs who were real physical with him. I'll be really interested in seeing how the matchups do go. No way can Paul Pierce guard Kobe. I think you could see a couple of different matchups along the series, but in the end I don't see anyway that the Celtics can win this series.

Also a big key is what the linemakes have opened this series as. Now I know the lakers are big public team, but you can't act like the Celtics haven't gotten a lot of public love this year. I mean name wise they got 3 of the biggest names from the past 10 years on one team. The line opened up at -3.5 for the Celtics with the public hitting them a slightly higher clip then the lakers and the line has dropped at almost all sites. Now I do think the Celtics might win game one, but after that I think the lakers take the next 4 in a row. League might do some fishy things to get this series to go 7, but the series prices also say that the lakers win. They are favoring a team that doesn't have homecourt vs a team thats only lost one game on its home floor this postseason and had the best road record in the regular season. All these things just point to a Lakers win

LAKERS w/Gasol: 34 WINS   7 LOSSES

(and one loss where Gasol only played 2 minutes because he left the game due to injury)

So are you sure Gasol doesn't matter???

For those taking Boston, you should take the series now.  One of the best lines you'll probably get.  Either now or after Game 2 (in case they split one)

But the way I look at it is this series line will be a pick (or even a favorite -125?) once Boston takes game 1.

You tell me. Then why are all your Laker buddies bringing it up all the time.

When you have to keep asking for "respect", that shows insecurity. Anyone saying anything about the Lakers was labeled "non-believer" or a "hater".

L8kersfan74, I "respect" your opinion as opposed to most other Laker fans because you are very objective in your analysis.  You just don't say the Lakers are going to win and cover every single game.

The bottom line is both teams got to the finals.

I could say, even though the West is "loaded" the Lakers had an easy road. Denver is so weak, Utah horrible road team and as all Laker fans noted throughout the series time and time again, very overrated, and finally SA, old and tired.

Then you are going to come back and say how the Celtics struggled against Atl on the road (which they did) and Clev the whole series going 7.

Quite a few people felt the Celtics struggles against the lesser teams would be their downfall against the mighty "Stones". The Celtics had an easier time against Detroit.which was hard to figure.

Now that they both have reached the finals, do you really think anything that happened in the previous series' is really going to determine who wins the championship?  All the previous stuff doesn't mean squat and I wouldn't hang your hat on it. Both teams made the finals because they are the 2 best teams. The Celtics never played against Gasol on the Lakers is hardly a reason to go by.

Every game is different and may the best team win.

Just trying to be objective and not look thru purple and gold colored glasses all the time.

I am a Celtics fan but I am not going to predict a sweep or that the C's are going to crush the Lakers.  Do I have concerns? Sure I do.

I am not going to say the Lakers are going to win because the Celtics suck on the road.  They were the best road team during the regular season.  They sucked on the road in rounds 1 and 2.  Just because they won 2 games on the road against Detroit doesn't mean their worries are over.

I hate the 2,3,2 finals format.  I think it favors the Lakers.

Would I be shocked if the Lakers win the championship. No.

But I feel the Celtics will win the series in, why not, 7 games.

From an objective fan, the Lakers have my respect. May the best team bring home the trophy.

I would like your analysis on why you think the 2-3-2 favors the Lakers. I personally think it favors the team with the home court advantage, the team with 2 games at the front and 2 at the back. I would assume before you even say anything that it's because they are getting their 3rd home game in the series before the team WITH the home court advantage gets their 3rd or just the fact that they get 3 in a row at home. I'm curious...
 
Also, of course nobody's saying that just because Gasol is in the lineup and the Celtics never faced the Lakers with Gasol, that this means the Lakers will win. The point of that is that nobody can deny how dominant the Lakers have been WITH Gasol, 34-7 which would equate to 68-14 over an 82 game season. Plus, a couple of those losses came in Gasol's first few games with the Lakers as they were still developing chemistry. Over the past couple months the Lakers have been nothing but dominant with Gasol in the lineup.
 
I think what the Lakers do offensively, and of course the Kobe factor, will be too much for the Celtics to handle. The Lakers will play great defense as well and I haven't seen the Celtics quite as impressive at the offensive end in the playoffs. I also think matchup wise the Lakers have the edge. Garnett should get his, but, Odom's length could frustrate him. Kobe SHOULD shut down Ray Allen (or possibly Pierce, but, I think he'll be on Allen). Gasol on Perkins, no worries there. Fisher on Rondo/Cassell, I think Fisher's experience will put him over the top against Rondo and Cassell doesn't scare anybody anymore (maybe his extra-terrestrial looks but not his playing skills). This leaves Radmanovic on Pierce where I don't see as big of an advantage as most might. I like the added intensity to Rads defense of late, and when he's on the bench Vujacic should frustrate the hell out of Pierce. So, defensively I think the Lakers should do just fine. Offensively, I have no worries. The Lakers offense is a well-oiled machine right now with a variety of weapons. You can't leave anybody open, you can't double or triple Kobe the way teams used to. It just doesn't work because you'll get killed either by Gasol/Odom with a layup/dunk inside or you'll leave a Radmanovic/Vujacic/Fisher wide open for a 3.
 
I picked the last series correct, Lakers in 5. I even picked which game the Spurs were going to win (Game 3), I had money on the Spurs in that game. For this series, I am not as sure about it, BUT, I am thinking Lakers in 5 for this one as well. I see the Lakers stealing one of the first two games in Boston then winning their three games at home to close it out in Game 5, BUT, the Celtics COULD win one in L.A. forcing the Lakers to close things out in Boston. IF that happens, I don't think it would be in Game 6, I think it would be in Game 7. But anyway, I'm going with Lakers in 5 as my actual prediction.

Boston is favoured to win game 1. If they win, like they're supposed to, why would the line change a bunch? You see large swings in series prices when ROAD teams win.

The best chance to bet Boston will be after LA takes 1 of the first 2 games on the road...

I think a big thing in this series is going to be Sasha being able to run around and guard Ray. I think if hes able to do this, the same way he did Manu, Kobe will be able to guard Paul Pierce. If the Celtics can't score 90 plus in this series consistantly they are going to be in trouble. Its going to be interesting to see what kind of matchups happen throughout this series. Very excited for this years finals then any in the past few years.

Thats why I said either now or Game 2.

But I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Celts win both game 1 and 2.  From then on, to gamble for a series line like +160 is not worth it.  You'll have to hope for Lakers to win 2 straight to even it up.

IF, (which is a BIG IF), Celts do lose 1 of the first 2 games at home, then after game 1 or 2, they'll be a better Celts series line.

All I know is that I'm already putting the max amount on Celts +160.  I see Celts taking 2 wins in a row and  from there on Celts will not be that big of a underdog unless Lakers can win 3 straight at home.

Once the series is over, if I'm wrong about this, PLEASE PULL IT UP.

Damn We got a lot of Lakers backers here. I am neither Lakers fan nor Boston fan. So I dont give a damn if they win/lose.  I want you know that Boston got weapons to take the Lakers down.  ESPN gives too much credits to Lakers and don't let the media fool you.
 
This is a tough NBA Finals. It shows who is hungry for the title. It is 6 or 7 games series.
 
Game 1 Boston win for sure.
Game 2 either
Game 3 Lakers win for sure
Game 4 either
Game 5 either
Game 6 Boston win for sure (not if they cannot Game 4/5)
Game 7 if necessary
 
So Bet Smart or Die Hard
Game 1 Boston -2.5 (remember this is a first time for Lakers to start the series at somebody else court).

I completely agree, and I'm not just saying that as a Laker fan. As an NBA fan in general this should be a VERY entertaining Finals. No boring Spurs or Pistons, and no mockery of the game of basketball with the Cavs...watching one man try to win it by himself. This year we truly have two very entertaining TEAMS who play TEAM basketball, and they're both fun to watch.

Just one thing you shouldn't forget.....the Lakers are 4-3 on the road in the playoffs (vs. better competition) while the Celtics are just 2-7 (including a combined 0-6 to the Hawks and Cavs).

The bantering is just great between the Celtics and the Lakers, no middle ground!!!!  We all  know some Boston fans that are tough to be around, and because of Covers we know some Lakers fans that would be the same!!!!!   This should be a great series, I am not a Lakers fan, but will be rooting for the Lakers, to win my series bet, and because I don't want the Celtics to win so my friend can STFU!!!!!!
