Again the Overs went only 9-6 on this past Saturday, 3 June '17.

    Comparing the offensively explosive days
    of 21 May '17 with that of 3 June '17 —
we find the two teams of Penn
Pitt & Phill going under on both days, accounting for 3 of the Undies.
Zona in a super-slugging season (w/o Greinke): Under on both days.
Public-loved Yanks, also slugging well this year: Under on both days.
Power-hitter lineups of Tor BJ's & Balt O's: Under both days (3 total).

Hence, were one to have eliminated the aforesaid under-teams
from a humungous multi-team parlay of the overs...  Cha-ching!

SO-rate has increased each of the last 5 years
    and yet there's a league wide increase in offense;
parks at SD & at Sea have been adjusted upwards,
but totals for Balt, Col & Cubs have avg'd the same.

Also noteworthy is that the MLB has sanctioned
the use of humidifiers for watering down baseballs
before play in Coors Field by the Rockies & foes...
This trick may have to be secretively deployed at
all ball parks in the very near future if we all start
hitting 10-teamers on a consistent basis through-
    out this year...

Reasoning behind stating that it is indeed rare
that the NL's ERA is greater than the AL's lies
in the fact that starting pichers are typically
allowed to face a day's lineup of hitters for
three times thru the order, and in the NL
the pitcher must bat so the starter has
only 7 hitters he must actually pitch to
since the pitcher is nearly an auto-out
and the hitter preceding the pitcher in
the lineup can be fed a diet of darts
at the corners because a walk to
him means less with the pitcher
    due up next to hit.

Anybody willing to test this year's balls
    - the superball-core & windings - and
compare the findings with balls from
    years past...??

The strike zone is now smaller,
as MLB has instructed the Umps
to NOT call the strike thrown at
the knees ==> it pays to know
    an Umpire & his tendencies...

Reasons for the offensive increase in runs scored
are this year's baseball & the shrunken strike-zone.

MLB’s competition committee agreed last year to
raise the strike zone such that pitches below the
knees would stop being called for strikes by umps.
MLB proposed the change in February of 2017,
but the union did not directly agree to the change.

Major League Baseball can change the strike zone
without the consent from the players' union, but it
would they'd have to wait 1 year after a proposal
before a new rule change could come into effect.

HRs & Grand Salms shows Umps are NOT waiting.

Last season was the 1st time in 6 seasons that the
    strike-zone didn’t increase (via Hardballtimes.com).
Fangraphs measured called-3rd-strikes in the strike-
zone's lower portion: #'s far less than years past.

    NBA teams are 18-271 all-time when down 0-2 in a best-of-7 series.

Only 5 of 64 teams since 2009 won when in that spot –
the OKC in the 2012 Western Conference finals,
the Grizz in the 1st round of the 2013 playoffs,
the Blazers in the 1st round of the 2016 playoffs,
the Cavs in the 2016 NBA Finals,
and the Celts in the 1st round of this 2017 year’s playoffs.

The last 20 playoff squads returning home down 0-2
covered the 1st Half point-spread 19 times out of 20
& that loss was this year's Spurs against Golden St.

Don't question why they need to be loss-free
They'll tell you it's like Bulls on TNT
    Winning all the time
Lose a game and we will lose our minds
    Then trend's unkind...

    Good Buy Halo-Tuesdays
Who could hang a loss on you?
When you win in every new way
    Still we gonna bet you...

    Good Buy Ten-Ohh Tuesdays!

    1st Q's 71 pts is over 58
    and, 2nd Q's 57 points = PUSH
so 1H sails over the posted total.

    1-0-1

The point spreads for 1st & 2nd quarters & half
were too busy fluctuating = too much action for
    those secondary types of wagers
    , hence totals.

This post is #342 w/i this thread
and 3, 4, 2 reminds me of Dice,
    a lesser known game Barbooth.

Barbooth is also called Barbotte, or Barbudi,
    and is a dice game of Middle Eastern origin;
in the USA it is played chiefly by folks of a
    Greek and/or Jewish ancestry.

The Shooter casts two dice (traditionally miniature dice).
    If he throws 3–3, 5–5, 6–6, or 6–5, he wins;
if he throws 1–1, 2–2, 4–4, or 1–2, he loses.
    All other combinations are meaningless.

A 2nd player (the Fader) sets stakes in betting against the Shooter,
and alternates with him in casting the dice.

    Other players make side bets
on whether the Shooter or the Fader will win.

When banked by a House (in place of the Fader),
    the official responsible (the Cutter)
charges a percentage on each bet,
usually 5%, in order to make a profit.

    The game is even-up:
Shooter & Fader having exactly equal chances of winning.

LBJ through the 3 games of the series vs. GS
has only 11 pts combined in the 4th Quarter !!

Playoffs, esp. in The Finals, is a question of matchuops:
The Celts' Holford & Jereko can hit 3's consistently and
so would have provided more of an engaging matchup
than Tristan Thompson and Jefferson can ever deliver,
and thus a more competitive Finals series would have
    ensued
since Celts are the only team to go into GS's
Waracle and win 2 years in a row - the only team !!

And also, when GS is at full strength, the Celtics
at home the past few years have given GS much
tougher & tighter games than Clev has provided.

Mississippi State blew a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning, losing 4-3.
The 2nd game of the series is Sunday, 11 June '17 at 8 p.m.
    (ESPN2).
Their whole season is on the line so they must win..

    If the Cavs win Monday,
    doubt creeps in, & then
    the series goes seven.

    The longer the series,
    the more chance for
    incurring injuries,
    even ejection(s).
