    They had an entire college basketball team (Temple I think) that got in trouble for fixing games.

    It’s just all money and greed especially if most of them know they aren’t making it pro or getting much NIL money.

    Last season they had Draymond caught on camera telling the 3rd stringers the spread once all the GS starters got benched cause they were up.

    Ppl swear it’s impossible to have everything scripted or everyone in on it - but you don’t need everyone - you just need a coach to call some weird plays, or a player here or there, or a ref.

    What is for sure is that there is definitely a snitch. If we have learned anything about this particular FBI, they aren’t capable of properly investigating, they need it handed to them on a silver platter.

    Remember that time everyone blasted those and kept saying learn to pick the right team... when they kept posting threads "nba is rigged"....

    Ya..... I think all those just lost their credibility a lot more than those who knew all along since the refeering scandals this league is as scripted as it gets.

    @UnderdogKing

     Well said. There have been and always will be individuals, teams, coaches, players, or officials who may be bought. The price outweighs the selling out because your future earnings potential is doomed if or when they are caught. What's funny is by the 2000s with teenagers getting millions in the NBA the salaries how would they get more money commiserating with criminals and mafia types constantly on the run. They wouldn't because the regulators in Vegas and then offshore books observe irregular patterns or amounts. I think it comes down to a few factors. One, you are either a gambler or you are not. Two, you do it out of boredom or as a side deal. Three, you are indebted to someone or a group.

    Now I do not personally believe all games are fixed in pro sports. That would be very hard to do for an entire team and league to script precise endings a la WCW/WWE. I do believe they are heavily influenced at times for ratings and revenue purposes. Yes by the 2000s the NBA to me and many others dropped in quality and appeal. The 90s and 80s were the best eras of basketball not even close. The money and corporate money started inflating salaries to ridiculous amounts and that is not the players fault. It's owners and league driven. I'd never go to a pro sports event again I would rather bet on it than waste money in the stands or suites around a bunch of rowdy drunks. So when you are paid tens of millions and see Porter or Rozier faking injury for prop bets amounting to tens of thousands you have to say it has to be more than just money. Or is it?

    Prop bets are often limited in many degrees. As has been stated you cannot wager huge numbers even if you have the inside scoop unless you have a lot of people involved all making separate wagers on the same prop. That's a lot of activity and an easy red flag trigger. Especially an inordinate number of bets for a non perennial All Star name.

    Prop bets have been around for decades but are way more prevalent due to the offerings are more numerous now with fantasy and additional betting companies. They are way more suspect than an entire game. I do not like them but dabble once in a while. I rarely do for the simple reason the numbers are pretty sharp and I figure some players are paying attention to it and may involve themselves in rigging it. It would be easy for one player to attempt to manipulate. Prop bets should be disallowed but after 2018 the legalization procession allowed for all possibilities. At the same time the legalization of it nationwide does help regulators monitor such attempts that may have gone heretofore unknown. There are positives and negatives to it.

    I never had a problem legalizing and regulating things. But money and greed usually corrupts all. Why are the Five Families still running illegal sports and card game rackets? How did Ohtani's interpreter bet with an illegal southern CA bookmaker. And the bookmaker took his money to Vegas and spent it at casinos and sportsbooks. Pay off the right people even in a legalized environment and the illegal element will still try to survive. Look at the marijuana industry or the hordes of drugs and human chattel trafficked across the border. You can drop a bomb on a Venezuelan drug boat. It's kinda messy if someone innocent dies in the process. That would be terrible but it sends a message and gets the job done. Or you can make payments to the right groups to look the other way and let graft and avarice happen.

    Whether gamblers think it is fixed or not will not stop most from trying their luck. You can bitch and moan about a possible rigged outcome screwing your bet. A gambler is just that and will move on to the next matchup. Is it fixed, is it legit? Is Scott Foster officiating? Tim Donaghy's phone buddy. I don't think I have ever won a total or maybe even a side in a game in which I actually knew he was the ref. Perhaps I didn't want to know.

    Maybe it all went to hell too once all coaches in leagues started dressing like slobs with zip up pullovers track suits and sweats. Baseball managers coming out in untucked batting practice shirts. Goodbye Tom Landry, Pat Riley, Chuck Daly.  God bless NHL coaching staffs. They still look professional Wayne Gretzky wife gambling rings or not lol.

    @camby700

    Pretty much. Sacrificial lambs and then everyone thinks it’s all on the up and up and the league is squeaky clean even though they’re official partners with sportsbooks.

    Kevin Durant is part owner of a company that is partnered with sportsbooks as well
