OFFICIAL PBA 2010 FIESTA CUP THREAD
The Tigers and Elasto Painters have met twice this season--- both during the elimination stage with both games being won handily by the latter. In their first meeting in April, they won by 11 points and recently last June (an all-crucial match-up to have a chance at a quarters slot) by the same margin.
So Rain or Shine dominates Coke from all angles, correct?
Probably so. In both games, we saw Coke go tit-for-tat in the first canto only to be left behind in the ensuing quarter. Combined numbers for the first two games: 23 point lead for ROS after the fist half--- meaning the bench mob for the Elasto Painters is doing their job well at this stage (or actually any other part of the ball game when they get their playing time). This is where the likes of Tang, Arana and especially Chan gets game-changing stats. Conversely, Coke is so thin from the bench that most of the time this is their Achilles heel in most games they have lost.
So, can we expect the same for this crucial tiff? Will bench be again a factor?
Yes and yes. If the new imports (Nealy and Williams) can negate each other and main men Norwood and Mercado contributes what is expected, then the bench will decide this one.
Various sites have still not released the lines for this one but i'd like to assume a COKE+4.5 vs. ROS line would be released.
Even then, even if the books give us 6 or 6.5 for Coke, i am sticking my guns with the Rain or Shine squad because they are ultimately the better team from 1-10. This depth would be crucial since they have been playing for 2-3 consecutive playdates now.
Rain or Shine for a healthy bet (3-5 units)

i doubt coke gets that may points as an underdog. air21 was only a 4 point underdog, why give coke more than 4 points? it wouldn't make sense.
i'm going with coke ML. the last game of ros showed how weak they are in the middle. coke's big men will take advantage of this. although coke lose their last outing against ros, it was a close game for 3 1/2 quarters. i expect coke to win the rebounding and ultimately the game. although i think ros is a better team, they don't match up well against coke.

on the contrary, kramer was more dominant on the boards in the 2nd half when both nealy and norwood were no longer considered to be in foul trouble, thus my post during the game ranting about why caloy garcia played hrabak during crucial stretches when clearly he couldn't grab a rebound even at gun point. although i still think ros is the better team, i just think they don't match up well against coke. whoever wins the rebounding battle wins the game, and i'm betting coke outrebounds them this time.
for the record, i also think norwood is one of the most overrated players in the pba now. he can't play point, he doesn't have a consistent jumpshot and he doesn't finish well off the dribble. he can finish shots under the basket though from an assist and he could play defense decently. in no way though should he be considered the face of ros. sol mercado is far more important to the team than him.

Could Binondo be at work?
i wonder how much you factor in the line considering this is a playoff game. i WANTED a 4.5 line (which we will probably get tomorrow from our locals) but something below 3 is really, really making me uncomfortable because of the influences of the powers that be.

Wow, it's Coke+2.5 at BET365 and +2 at MegaSports. Oh really, after the "sort of" domination from ROS in the first two meetings?

the line is just about right. air21 got 4 pts against ros. coke being the better team should get less then 4. unless you consider the line of air21 wrong, with air 21 covering, i don't think you should be suspicious of this coke spread.
