Bruce Spruce, I agree on a few things bud.  One of them is not the fact that Portland sucks.  I think Portland is a very dangerous ball club with a lot of subtle under-rated weapons. Camby and Aldridge (with Roy) are a dynamic front-court duo.  Nicholas Batum is in my opinion one of the most underrated wing men in the league.  Bayless can impact the game with his speed and ability to drive and kick.  Miller is a vet who can easily duplicatehis game 1 performance as PHX may forget about him and concentrate on Roy.  Having Rudy and Webster come off the bench is key.  Portland doesn't suck Bruce.

I do agree 100% with the stupidity of Charlotte, they had this series in their grasps in game 3 and let it fade away because of ridiculously poor decisions and execution.  I think they have the pride and drive to fight tonight.

Atlanta does scare me, they are a far superior team talent wise then the Bucks.  However, Atlanta's road woes and the Bucks home strength make me tend to believe the Bucks can handle the Hawks as they did in game 3.  Maybe not in blowout fashion but they have the confidence now.  Dan Gadzuric is a no name player.  But having a 7 ft weapon off the bench grabbing 10 boards a game negates the loss of Bogut a bit.  We all know how good the Bucks were with Andrew, this new found asset, although no name, could improve the Bucks chances against the Hawks in this series.

If it is any consolation, when the Lakers, Cats or Blazers have been playing I have not had consistent winning nights.  Can't seem to call em right.  You maybe on the right side of all 3 bro.  Best of luck either way.

Do you know what I saw in the previous Charlotte game?  I saw how dumb their players are, they get Howard out of the game and decide to abandon the paint and throw up contested 3's.  The Beast can't do it all.  Charlotte was great in the regular season at home but this is the playoffs, and this looks like the only sweep of the first round......................

MIAMI HEAT + 7 (-110) - - - First time on the Heat.  What I don't understand is all the articles and press stating that Boston is now in desperation mode...correct me if I am wrong but aren't the Heat the team on the brink of elimination?  I gained an enormous amount of respect for Wade and his affiliates.  They could have easily just bowed out after the 3rd quarter and let Boston sweep em.  But their resilience and sheer determination proved to me these guys are not going to just lay down and die.  They will fight tonight.  Boston has not been able to stop Wade.  The doubles, the help defense, one on one.  Nothing has stopped him.  J.O is under a lot of scrutiny for his lack of production in this series.  I think he finally shows up in game 5.  Beasley will produce offensively.  Joel Anthony although not putting up stats is a force down low and contends with bigs and dribble penetration.  Dorell Wright is an X-Factor of some sort and I suspect a decent game from him.  Fact of the matter is Boston isn't an ATS killer at home.  They were 12-28-1 this season and have struggled to cover spreads to say the least.  I think the Heat show the same passion and determination they did in game 4 and keep this baby close.
2 UNITS DWAYNE "1 RING & NO TEAM" WADE - - -

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS - 12 (-110) - - - The Cavs three wins in this series have been quite decisive none more-so then the 23 point beating last game.  They won by 13 and 10 the other two games.  The only game they lost was by a minimal margin and in that game they took a ridiculous amount of treys.  35 to be exact.  Cavaliers have pounded the Bulls down low on the block defensively.  They have 35 blocked shots to Chicago's 12.  Time and time again I have stated that the Bulls do not have the depth and bench to sustain against the best team in the NBA (IMO) Last game the Bulls bench was 7-25 and won't do much tonight either. The Cavaliers are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 first round bouts, 7-2 in their last nine and 17-6-1 as chalk.  They are an outstanding 8-1-1 ATS on closeout games.  I have no doubt in my mind this series is over tonight.  Chicago was lucky to get one.  Call me a homer, an idiot, bias...whatever, I agree.  But I am so certain a healthy Toronto Raptors club would have given us a much more interesting series.  Bulls didn't deserve the 8th spot.  Bye Bye Bulls go sign your big name free agent in 2010/2011.  See ya next year you Raptor screwing fuckers....wanting to get that out since game 1 :) Thanks for letting me vent :)

LOS ANGELES LAKERS - 5.0 (-115) - - - Sigh, can't believe I still have trust in these fools after that horrible game 4.  Can't believe they let OKC tie the series up.  I also can't believe how many people are ready to right off the Lakers for the entire series.  You guys must have really put mass units game 5 in order to be that dejected from thinking clearly.  I do understand and am well aware of how well OKC played at home.  I am also quite aware of how bad the Lakers played at home yet STILL came out victorious in both games.  Oklahoma City is a very tough place to play, the crowd loves their basketball, and the younger the team the more poise and pride they have in front of a very energetic home crowd.  Game 2 is what makes me think that the Lakers will handle the Thunder tonight.  Lakers played a horrific game, Fish and Artest were awful.  Bynum and Odom were non-existent.  Yet the Lakers manage to win that game.  They had no business winning that game.  Kobe's injury was quite a bit more serious then what was led on in games 3 and 4.  Could explain his horrible performances.  This guy does have some of the best trainers and staff in the NBA and I am certain he will get the necessary treatment in order to be productive tonight.  That 24-2 fast break advantage will not even be close tonight.  Look for transition defense to be the forefront of the Lakers defensive strategy tonight.  Offensively it is quite obvious what needs to be done.  During the 2 games in OKC, the Thunder ravaged the Lakers with 82 FT attempts compared to just 40 for the Lakers.  I am certain a change of venue will even that stat out a bit. James Harden of OKC was scoreless at the Staples Center yet went off for 33 combined in the 2 home games.  I think everything will change tonight.  I suspect the Lakers to have their best home game of the series tonight.  The home team is 4-0 in this series so far, so why everyone think OKC wins this is beyond me.   Lakers are 5-1 SU and ATS off back to back defeats this season, only lost 3 games in a row once.  OKC is 3-7 this season off back to back wins.  I did lose a lot of trust in the Lakers after game 4 but my favorite player of all time Hakeem Olajuwan, Rudy Tomjonovich and the back to back Rocets champions taught me to never underestimate the heart of the champion.  Stop drinking haterade, Kobe and the Lakers still have that thirst.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS + 5 (-110) - - - Timmy goes 1-9, Manu goes 4-16, Tony has a bad game....and Dallas still does not win? Wow.  George Hill and Jefferson are now dangerous additions to this lineup.  This 7 man rotation of San An is perfect.  They are now my favorite team in the West.  So boring to watch for many of you non-basketball fans.  So fun for me.  They play better help defense then I have seen in a very very long time.  If an offensive player beats someone on the Spurs, it ain't over like it is against most team.  They have men backing up their teammates on every angle, every corner, every drive.  Sometimes 2 or 3 guys helping yet the spacing on defense is so good that it is easy to get back to the shooter on kick outs.  I love teams that play like this.  Defense wins championships, I would love to see the 7th seed Spurs get deep into the playoffs.  They deserve it playing like this.  Timmy will have a big bounce back game.  Manu has been shooting and practicing with his face gear, he will be more productive tonight.  Tony will have a big game off the bench and either Hill or RJ will go off as a 4th man tonight.  Maybe both.  Dallas is bamboozled and will not win this series.  Revenge is the sweetest joy next to getting box and the Spurs exact their revenge on the Mavs either tonight or game 6.  No 7th and decisive game in this series I am sure of it.

Wade was the ONLY reason why they won that game.  That combined with a ton of missed FT's in the 4th by Boston.  I have no respect for any "affiliates" of Wade.  They are a bunch of no shows.  I don't think Miami has a shot in hell of winning this game. I wouldn't even trust them covering 10 in this game tonight

 

Not sure about the Cleveland game.  No doubt that they win but 12 is a little high.........I think they win by around 12 so Im not seeing much value here.......Prob hover around 10 for most of the game......

I like Dallas ML tonight.  I like them to force this series back to SA where the Spurs take it.  Maybe we both win this game

Never derogate on the champion ofcourse,but Lakers looked as bad as I dont know even how to explain,why should they play as well tonight?

Did Boston played that heart last year after being champion one year before?maybe yes,but it still didn't bring the to the western conference finals.

As I think about Boston as I think about Lakers,yes,maybe they never lost series being 2-2 with home advantage,but exscuse me,Lakers didn't made any speciall that playoffs,so I really can't belive they would make a magic night,Ocklahoma did very well performences at home,especially at game 4,wich they came free and played amazing basketball.

Also in game 2,Lakers had the advantage and all,but it still allmost did not enough for them.

Maybe Kobe is the best player on the league what I think is not,but it still though match against very tough team.

After game 3 when Ocklahoma won,something just passed away,Okcla passed the test of entrance to the playoffs,wich we saw very good in game 4 the qualities of those players.

I think Ockla will come without any pressure tonight,all the pressure on LA,and in my opinion they still screw up,didn't played as good as they have to.

I think the bookies exploit that team as far as they can,and it won't stop tonight,they pulled all over the world the bettors to LA to beat above the line,what I really sceptical should be.

Dourant is playing as well against Artest,we saw it in game 4,I think Ron couldn't stop him,even though he's one of the best defenders in the league,I think Lakers isn't shape enough to hit storn the Thunders tonight,and the more this series continues the more Lakers be tired.

The fresh legs will talk + the pressure under LA tonight.

In the bottom line I really belive Okclahoma should make something unbeliveable,and beat LA :)

I like the San Antonio pick, mak. Add in the fact that you know Dallas is gonna have a TON of ATS backers expecting a blowout, and you are setting yourself up for a late one possession type game, especially given the defense being played by San Antonio.

You were spot on last night Bruce, you make a good point.  Fuck the affiliates, as stated in the Heat writeup. 1 ring and no team.  He has nothing the work with.  Best player in the NBA with no backup whatsoever.  Nevertheless, J.O has to have at least 1 good game.  If Wade performs as he has, all he needs is a little help to get Miami withing 7 points.  Beasley, a few Q rich treys, any minuscule contribution should allow em to stay within reach. 

Funny thing is, I had CLE capped at winning by exactly 9 points.  It's the ATS trends found while capping that put me over the edge and gave me the confidence to go for the 12.  In any case, I am certain Cavs - 3 is a lock so the teasers should allow me to makeup for a CLE ATS loss.

Despite what many think, I do believe the Lakers come through and take a 3-2 series lead.  They got a humbling experience in OKC and I think it may be a positive thing for this team once they advance.

I do think Dallas has a chance to pull out a victory, however, I just cannot go against the Spurs and doubt I will go against them a lot in these playoffs.  It has been almost 8 years since I have seen a defensive system like this, it is very difficult to overcome for any team, especially one as as transparent as the Mavs.

Boston couldn't play with heart last year, they were missing their soul.  Without KG this team is nothing.  You all may think he is finished, his blocking ability and scoring touch may not be what is was 2 years ago, but his heart is just as big.  This game is 90% mental 10% skill.  KG's mentality is what allows Boston to roll.

Good luck with OKC, they could pull off a huge series upset but I just do not see them winning game 5.

 

The defense is sick isn't it?  For me I enjoy watching that type of lock dawn defense then any run and gun GS or PHX game.  Call me weird I know, it gives me a hard on.

My man KP43.  Actually if San An does win this game, I think they do so in decisive fashion.  If Dallas wins this game I have a feeling they cover the spread.  Thought about the ML but took the 5 instead.  Hope they finish em off tonight.  I think they are officially my team in the playoffs now.  They have always been my favorite team apart from the Raps.  Really like the 7 man rotation.  Good luck KP.
