Portland Trail Blazers +4

The Blazers are 2-0 at home this year against the Eastern Conference...allowing only 81 points per game.  Granted it was against the Pistons and the Raptors...but that is still a solid number.  Magic come into this game losing two in a row (one because of sickness, one because of flatness after sickness)...and have lost their only game on the road vs. the West.  Typically on Thursday Night TNT games it's either a favorite blowout or an underdog win...and the Blazers have the size and speed to matchup with the Magic at just about every position.

Prediction:  Blazers 93  Magic 91
Risk:  1.2 units to win 1 unit

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers UNDER 190.5

The Celtics have been on the road on a back to back three times this year...

vs. Atlanta on Nov. 22nd...Total set at 192.5...went UNDER at 175
vs. Dallas on Nov. 8th...Total set at 188...went UNDER at 176
vs. Cleveland on Oct. 27th....Total set at 184.5....went UNDER at 182

The Cleveland game was a similar scenario as we see tonight...road game following a big home win.  The Sixers up until the last two games against Cleveland and Charlotte were UNDER machines at home as well.  The major reason the last two games were scoring outbursts was the Sixers shot 52% in both games....and made 19 three pointers.  The Celtics are in the top 5 in defensive FG%...and are 2nd in the NBA in 3 pointers allowed (5.2 per game).

Prediction:  Celtics 94  Sixers 86
Risk:  1.1 units to win 1 unit

Yes, the Sixers are on a nice little run lately...much like the Celtics are on a nice little run.  But I took the time to examine the runs...and see if I could make sense of it.  First of all...despite the Sixers being 8-1 ATS...they are only 5-4 SU.  Out of those 9 games...only 2 of them were against teams with a winning record (Miami and Atlanta)...and the Sixers lost both of those matchups.  Both of those games also went under the total.  The overall record of the teams played by the Sixers during this streak is only 83-113 (.423)...the teams that they beat have a combined record of 39-68 (.361).  In the 8 game winning streak for the Celtics...they have played 3 teams with winning records (Denver, Chicago, and Atlanta) and beat them all.  The teams the Celtics have played have had a combined record of 77-96 (.445)...just a little bit better than the Sixers.

Prediction:  Celtics 94  Sixers 86
Risk:  1.1 units to win 1 unit

Debating a Celtics 1st quarter play...but they are such a hard team to figure out.  Sometimes they show up big in the first quarter...other times they look like they just got off the plane.

Seems like a good number until you realize that the Celtics have put up 29 points on average in their last 5 road games.

4 out of 5 have hit over 50 points.

Philly has also averaged about 29 points to start off their home games.

Best thing to do on Celtics games from what I've seen is to either play the full game...or wait until halftime and see how the game is going.  9 times out of 10 the Celtics will alternate quarters
