Go to NBA stats and on covers and pick year it will show all the numbers like 10 years back....in terms of ATS.

dont see them covering better then 50%...especially when dick-head Larry Brown put the newbs in the 4th quarter...

Ya, but here is the problem with that:

Celtics won 52 games ATS, meaning you would have had to start from game 1 and commit then. Say after about 2 weeks and 8 games you realize who the hot team maybe to play is, you already missed out on about 720 bucks, making your profit at 1160.

I'm not sure if the risk is worth the reward, i mean 1160 is good if you're right. but half way through the season you would be kicking yourself if you were wrong.

I have had that same thought in regards to the Yankees or the Redsox. Ya maybe you could make a few bucks over an entire season but it could be the most boring system ever. And since 99% of gamblers are degenerates so that system would be way too boring.

Here is my analogy to betting the Lakers to win every single game ATS all year long.  Most gamblers are like weekend drinkers. They like to party it up on Friday and Saturday nights. Each of those two nights drinking 7 drinks a night. For a total of 14 drinks.  Then you come along with your Lakers theory and say why don't you just have two drinks a day for an entire 7 day week.  One drink at noon and one drink at 7:00 pm.  You won't be hung over all next week, you feel better, you will be a responsible drinker, etc........You would probably kick that guy in the nutz for that suggestion.

This theory can't be done unless you are doing it with your 5 other bets a day.  And if you pick the wrong team to do this theory then you could get in a real hole.

Interesting to try that in the NBA. I think their is to many games to try that. I do that every year in college football. I pick a team or 2 and bet them all year at the same units. i road USC for a couple years and this year I road Florida going 8-2 against the spread.
I think if you have the right NBA team and are confident to ride that long NBA season train than do it and good luck to you !!!

How about doing that with all of your bets.

There are some good cappers out there that can make a 62%-65% ATS winners every season, so if you bet every game on the same amount every single time you will make a very nice profit every year. Money management is the key and with hard research every night (or week) and little talent, a 60-65% year balance can gain profit.

I do this alot on baseball ML because I have no idea what I'm doing betting in it game to game.

Let me reiterate.  THAT kind of PLAY is flat out boring and everybody knows it but nobody does it.  I am not saying it is wrong but it conflicts the fundamental philosophy of being a degenerate gambler.  Get rich (or poor) quick.

i go hard with the magic, cavs and celtics too...lakers busted a 3 team par for me last night but they always got alot of chalk 2 cover!!

I think that will only work if and only if you get off to a good start. Coz once you get on a slump. You'll get sick of that team and then realize that after getting off them, they are getting a run on the ATS. Ride them all the way and bet the same units every game. If you follow this then you might really get easy money at the end of the season.

I just think it comes down good research and knowledge of the game to pick out the teams that are strong but dont have much public attention

this is a very good idea... just like in any sport... the trouble is you have to be ahead of the game... can't just wait until everyone knows about it...
 
in other words, yea, if you were one of the people who recognized that Boston had become an elite team, despite the fact there were mountains of doubters out there, then you can take advantage... but now Boston is the defending champs, and everyone knows (or should know) they are the best team in the league... so don't expect them to be 52-28 ATS this year...
 
bottom line: you have to find THIS YEAR's Celtics...
 
by the way, i basically did exactly what you are talking about last year, riding the Celtics right out of the gate and all the way to the title, although i didn't bet every single game, since there were certain spots the value wasn't in my favor... overall i probably bet around 50% of their games, including the playoffs...

Perhaps a better idea is to find a crap  team to bet "against" all season ... for example Washington is 1 - 8 against the points this year after 9 games !!!

I know this is a basketball forum but i think you could make a lot of money doing that with the red wings this year in hockey just taking the money line. Even though every loss is worth two wins because they are always a 2-1 favorite but they are even better this year than they were last year.

They will win more than 3-4 of their games this year. Just lay off at the end of the season when they go into crusie control and get ready for the playoffs
