i would not mind jack and ariza give them artest and blake
doesnt work like that, the whole reason for taking ariza and jack is that we take on more money. remember gilbert said hes never seen a trade where a team gets the best player and also saves money. if we send artes and blake were saving even more money, which would be nice, but will only make owners more mad. if we send out odom and gasol for paul arize an jack were still saving money, but not anywhere near as much

Conflict of interest. If the Hornets had an actual owner, this deal goes through.
i agree which makes this even worse. but dont they already have a owner lined up? i could have sworn there was a guy lined up to buy the team, a local billionaire or something that wanted to keep the town in no (this was back when people were talking about moving the team). pretty sure i heard he didnt care if paul stayed or went he just wanted it done by the time he took over ownership. i could be wrong but i thought thats what was happening

what ever it is... They give up another pick or take payroll....Doesnt matter, you just cant always have the rich getting richer. I have no team in interest here. I do think that the GM at NO does not have the teams overall best interest at hand. He is not running as if it were his OWN money with that trade.

seanjohn- u absolutely are blind to the fact the NBA has fast become a joke that needs the big markets to make a lot of money....wanna know something? The Lakers, Celtics, and Heat only have two scenarios where they play back-to-back-to-back....Charlotte has 28 back to backs and Atlanta has 25.
The Heat have 13 back to backs and the Celtics have 18 back to backs. If not all teams are able to compete fairly then eliminate half the teams in the fricken league and just have the regular season be for playoff seeding for 50 games....
don't sit there and pontificate that New Orleans is a better team just because you gave them a bunch of good players on paper that may not even mesh or want to be where they are...that's the problem with the NBA and it's stars....the stars of yesterday may have thought about these things but they actually wanted to play against each other instead of piling 4 and 5 studs on one team..
don't worry though it will always end up being the way it has always been...Chris Paul and Dwight Howard will go to Los Angeles and Kobe Bryant will be better than Michael Jordan when his career is done because they won phony ass championships...the same would be said for Miami..put asterisks by these types of bullshit teams

Ya because apparently a ton of guys are dying to play in NOLA. Can't wait to see them go on a spending spree next season with no owner!
that's exactly the point samdude....you sarcastically make fun of NOLA and its no longer about playing the game for where you are contracted...its about getting the contract and being in a place where your brand works best and that is only done in big cities..of which there are not many in this country...so yes NOLA is screwed either way which is why there's no point to having these teams that lose stars because they don't want to be in a certain city....
the competitive balance is not there so why even have a team anywhere not located in certain cities. There's nothing legitimate about it...ppl cry and say those owners don't fork over the money but that would literally come directly out of pocket....george shinn didn't have that lovely cable contract, tickets sales, luxury box deals, or sponsorships that left him flush to re-invest heavily like certain teams...its a business investment not a monopoly board game but when you are jerry buss the money you use will come back to you without question....
if buss owned new orleans they would be the same team they are now. It's not the owner it's the location and ability to rake in dough so that investing it back into the team no longer comes out of your pocket...these owners didn't get their bank accounts stuffed acting like blind fans to their team with the exception of Mark Cuban..but in Dallas even Cuban wasn't bleeding money
