Alaska import DJ Covington listed at six feet and nine inches, but Covington turned out to be just 6’5” ¾ under the PBA official measurement.
But with him is his reputation as a rebounder and a defender making him a two-time Big South Defensive Player of the Year in the US NCAA.
In his senior year with the Keydets, Covington averaged a team-high 20.1 points on an efficient 59 percent shooting from the field on top of 106 blocks to finish his stint with a career total of 272 rejections – a Virginia Military Institute record.

At 6’8, NBA journeyman Al Thornton has the size to match-up with most local big men, but his skill-set also makes him a legit threat on the wings. In six NBA seasons (playing for three clubs), Thornton has averaged around 12 points and 4 rebounds a game. He shot better than 45% from the field, 29% from beyond the arc, and around 75% from the line. These numbers mean Thornton was a quality NBA talent, and if the 31-year old can bring some of his old fire to NLEX, then the Road Warriors may just gatecrash the playoff party once again.
