Top notch debut albums...any era

Obviously there have been a lot of great debut albums. Shit that makes you go, 'Hey these guys are pretty damn good, and they simply get it". Whatever that it is, going to be tough to define....off the top of my head, I'll go with:

The Smashing Pumpkins' first "Gish" was great as was Guns and Roses "Appetite for Destruction".  Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Texas Flood" was fucking awesome along with The Doors self titled first album....all good shit.  

Have the last 3 on disc/vinyl someplace. Quality stuff

Appetite for Destruction is the best-selling debut album of all-time worldwide, 17 times platinum. Hope there are not enough NKOTB fans out thee

DSN, you read my mind on that Van Halen. I think we talked phone once, and were right around the same age....That VH album was what....1978? Biggest thing that year if I recall. 

Brain is tired now at 4am, but PF The Wall was '79 or '80? can't believe I can't reference that year immediately.

Not in terms of money, tour, hype, but Mick Jones' first Big Audio Dynamite album was fantastic. Every track.

Talking Heads first album knocked us kids over since we were atb the time in the late '70s looking fo any alternative rock we could find....Probably put The Police 1st album along with it.

Don't know why, but I can't toss the Clash's 1st vinyl in there because maybe London Calling in 1980 was just so great.....

Sex Pistols- God save the Queen

GNR- Sweet Child blasting in the streets of Newport Beach

Alanis Morissette- a lady at work played this non stop for one month straight 

X- great poetry delivered with a punk rock assult

First time I heard You Oughta Know  ,figured she would be a star. Raw emotion in that tune. The whole album was great
