Always wanted to toss this one out. A song that either now or back in the day, was one, that as soon as you heard the first lick, had you reaching for the volume button in your vehicle.

Older Songs

1) Van Halen- Unchained.

2) Asia- Heat of the Moment.

3) Pretty much any ACDC song.

4)Rolling Stones- Start Me Up

5) U2- I will follow.

Top 5 since then

1) Rockhead- Bed of Roses

2) Powerstation- Bang a Gong

3) REM- What's the Frequency

4) Collective Soul- Smashing Young Man

5) Pearl Jam - Even flow

Anyone else have some tunes, that make them reach out and turn the volume to the right?

Good stuff

Deep Purple-Smoke On The Water (one of the world's greatest riffs to start a song)

Boston-Foreplay/Long Time (Sounds like an orchestra is playing)

Dire Straits-Money For Nothing (I want my MTV)

Almost any Zep, Stones, ACDC, Doors, Sabath

Dam, it's a wonder I can still hear

Madball - "Set it Off"

Biohazard - "Punishment"

Judas Priest - "United"

I'm gonna be ridiculed for this one, but here goes:

A big thumbs up on the Zep, Soundgarden, VH and ACDC.  And Boston too!

A few of my "crank it" tunes:

Van Halen - Hot for Teacher ( No opening lick, but the drums in this one are too good to omit from a list of great intros )

ACDC - Highway to Hell

Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills

Pink Floyd - Run Like Hell

Edgar Winter Group - Frankenstein

Ozzy - Crazy Train

Metallica Seek and Destroy, Blackened, Master of Puppets
Alice and Chains Man in a Box, Them Bones
Van Halen Unchained, 5150

So many to list here and it keeps growing in my mind.  If i had to choose one it would be Seek and Destroy.

I may be going out on a limb here, but the top 5 opening chords to a song have got to be:

C Major
E Major
D Major
A minor
G major

This is open for debate but this is my take on things.
