Conspicuously absent until now has been one of my favorite flavors of Rock 'n' Roll. I'm talking about Southern Rock. It really upsets me that some truly awesome Southern Rock tunes will not make the final cut. Sorry, but such is life.
I always try to give the best "Live" performance of these countdown songs but this one eludes me. So I'll give you the very best audio version.
At # 24... The Outlaws... Green Grass and High Tides.

I always liked this a tad more than Freebird though the latter held a special place because it was dedicated to Duane. But being in the moment and not being able to turn on the fm and go 3 hour without hearing it and or Layla or Stair Way to Heaven burnt me out.I had a boot cassette of GGHT that was maybe a "B" recording wise with too much hiss and on a cheap tape but is was better version than the one on vinyl.

Duane
My one rock'n'roll regret... never saw him live. Been to a few AB concerts. But never got the chance to see Duane live in concert.

I want to make it 100% clear. I have NO LOVE for The Eagles.
I was smart enough to marry a women 10 years younger than I.
She insists that The Eagles make the list.
"Where are The Eagles"???
"Where is Hotel California"???
After 22 years of a successful marriage, I can tell you that there are fights you win, and fights you lose. If you are a smart man, you chose your fights.
I chose to make Wifey happy.

I'm not an Eagles fan either, but I always turn it up when "Hotel California" or "Life in the Fast Lane" comes on.

Good move with the wife. I actually respect the Eagles' body of work. Liking the band itself is more difficult for me because I think Frey is one of the most obnoxious boors in the music business ( followed very closely by Henley ). I like Joe Walsh, though.

I forget about it sometimes, but Deep Purple 'Made in Japan' is a badass album. Maybe one of the most influential albums of my teens (and I was a teen in the 90's.)
