platypus, in early Modest Mouse you can hear the influence of Built to Spill (in fact they use to play shows together alot out west) and the Pixies.
Don't know if any of these have been mentioned, but here I go;
The Thermals
Of Montreal
Okkervil River
Tim Fite
The Mountain Goats
Snowden
Music today its all crap!!!!Hip Hop/Rap.

Im listening to these guys nonstop these days:
Wilderness Crew
-they only have one CD but I HIGHLY recommend getting this CD off CDbaby.com or something like that.
Also:
Sweatshop Union
I've been smokin alot more lately but Im also looking for more positive, chilling music thatll make you take a step back and prioritize your life and the all the meaningless shit within it.

sirius and xm have brought new music instantly to our ears, i love a lot of new music that is from bands you have never heard of before.
i was a dj in nightclubs for 10 years and i hate most popular songs because of that, now i am hooked up with so much new stuff that i am in heaven

one of my fave " newer " groups is
British Sea Power from the UK
excellent band - very underated - saw them earlier this year in April in Orlando
ck out " No Lucifer " from their newest album - Do you like rock music ?
also really love Interpol
Im partial to more alt / new wave stuff from the 80s and techno / trance and house
here are just a few other bands I enjoy thru the decades some well known - some not
80s - The Pixies , Skinny Puppy , Front 242 , Bauhaus , Echo and the Bunnymen
90's - Ride , Slowdive , Ultra Vivid Scene , Ocean Blue , Lush ,Hardfloor , Chemical Brothers
00's - Interpol , Belle and Sebastian, Sigur Ros , Spiritualized , Dj Dan ( 90s plus ) Charles Feelgood ( 90s plus ) , Swayzak ,

Neverending white lights is good...I like the concept with different lead singers for each song, I heard they were great live as well....another good band is Ours....Jimmy Gnecco has some unbelievable pipes, new CD came out in April....There is good music out there you just have to dig for it not like back in the 80's and 90's where it was constantly in your face....
