What it feels like to stop gambling...

Due to an online bookie giving me way too much credit over the past 6-12 months I've managed to place bets every day for the past year or so.

Now that I've finally gone broke and closed my account for 2 weeks I must admit my life feels so much better not having to sweat every mlb nba soccor NFL game.

I was out of control losing probably more than 20,000 in the past year

For anyone still reading this thread. I recommend you try taking 1 week off from gambling and just see how it feels. The stress and agreviation is gone. The true degerates might say I can't take one week off bc I'll miss out on some great lines but if that's the case your just as addicted as me

Do I miss gambling? Of course I do. Do I miss the stress? Hell no

Took me a really long time to realize you can't win long term in sports betting but it's so entertaining and addicting that we lose sight of the fact that it's so unpredictable

I hope that at least one person reads this and possible reconsiders that next bet

Yeap. First step is for all of us to realize that we are addicted. You got ask your self what is life if it's not with the stress of life or the stress of gambling.

Ok, if you have a full-time job and work 9-5 everyday, you must be addicted to working then

think of it this way, $20,000 may seem like a lot to some, it may seem like a lot to you. But it's not. You don't know what hole you can dig. If you suck at gambling, if you don't understand how innefficient you were at this from the get-go, that is your own huge mistake.

Me and some others actually thrive on the stress of gambling, that is what the adrenaline is, sweating a losing game or a game that is winning till the end is the whole point win or lose. You just need to understand to not put your whole fkn bankroll on a single game or two, and it's not just about bank roll management. It's about not losing more than you should and carrying on.

Dude. I quit last week. I said the same thing. ..well here I am. The week off actually refreshed me. I needed to step away to gather myself collect my thoughts and now I'm doing way better than I was before. I wasn't working off credit though. You know what's best for you but try not to let the addictive personality kick in and convince you either way. Think about it and analyze if the time you spend sport betting could be utilized somewhere else that could benefit you either in your work, personal, or just hobby entertainment life. Sounds like you're not really, truly happy about it. You wish you had better self control so the budget you allocated to yourself for gambling was still afloat. 

Assuming everyone who gambles is a degenerate who needs to stop is like assuming everyone who has a beer is an alcoholic. 

Do you honestly think that since he cannot bet, he wishes for others to stop as well? He is just reminding everyone that betting on sports is a detrimental activity if you let it control your life. Whether you want to heed the warning or not, just put that thought in the back of your mind. That was all he was trying to imply. Apparently, you are too good for such a caution and better at handicapping than everyone else that this doesn't apply.

I must add in on this as I was/ am in the same boat. I have dealt with Many addictions. I have just reached 6 months sobriety from alcohol and started to replace it with sports betting. I have fun with its addicting and stressful. Same as any addiction in the long run it Kills. For those who can maintain and be smart you just are not like some of us less unfortunates.

However I have an amazing family for support and I do believe there can be profit in sports bets.

For myself (with my addictive behavior) I only bet small!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One unit= 20$ and have an allowance of 200$ per week. I had a very bad run in MLB three weeks ago(up 30units for month to -40 in one week chasing bets). I took the last three weeks off to look back. Chasing money is not good if you find yourself ever chasing MONEY STOP!!!!!! take a day off and look at a clean sheet.
