All is quiet in Blue Jay land.  Other than JP spinning his bullshit like he always does.  They seem more concerned with finding a president now than actually fielding a competitive team.  Hopefully once K-rod signs they might be able to find a buyer for BJ Ryan.  I'd assume they're still shopping Overbay if anybody will take him. 

If they don't get Burnett I don't think they should do anything other than unload those 2 guys.  They have a bunch of young players right on the brink of the majors who need to get experience before this team will ever be competitive.  Let Snider play the whole year, get Arencibia up by June, a full year for Purcey, get Cecil up by mid season.  If they can get some major league experience for Purcey and Cecil they could have a pretty deadly staff again in 2010 re-tooled from within assuming Marcum, McGowan and Jannsen all recover from their injuries.

League is the closer of the future.  His stuff is just electric.  He touches 100 with ridic movement ... his only issue is control but its starting to come together. 

I don't know what the deal is with Accardo.  I'm not a huge fan of him anyways.

Mark Tex aka Bora is a bitch is looking for an Arod type of deal 10 years
 
Mets thinking about Derrick Lowe. 
 
This offseason has been slow waiting for a couple of big signings to get this kicked off.

Yea...I heard Pettitte has been talking to Torre about a possible Dodgers position. I bet it's wide open to him if he wants it, but I think he's a little greedy if he wants to leave just because he won't get $16 million after having a below average season and not coming in the clutch when they needed him. Even getting out of his last start of the season because he was tired. He's one of my favorite Yankees, just posting my opinion. Couldn't complain if he goes to LA though...he could help them make it to the World Series.
 
I can't wait for that 1 big signing to set things off.
 
Peavy to the Angels is also in talks.

Milton Bradley may sign with the blue jays. it makes not sense to me since the bj are crowded at the OF positions. damn last year we were sooooooooooo close getting tim lincecum for alex rios. but SF pulled out at the last minute. oh well. alex rios is the next big thing in mlb.

Hey Leafs , Accardo was VERY Solid when Ryan was out in 07 , BJ was pretty good in 08 with Accardo out ..
 
If you think League can get it done, then trade Ryan for a Big Bat or a starting pitcher ..

While I agree Accardo did a good job in '07 he just doesn't have closer makeup.  I'd rather have League, Downs or even Carlson closing before Accardo.  Carlson had a fantastic year and is very much like BJ Ryan at about 5% of the cost.  He has that deceptive 3/4 left handed delivery that hitters just can't seem to pick up. 

I don't think the market for closers is all that great.  Especially for $10 mil closers.  Theres only a handful of teams that can afford to dedicate that much money for 70 innings of work.  But it would certainly allow them to dump salary and be more competitive in the free agent market.  Mets & Tigers would be ideal landing spots.

Yankees are interested in trading Melky for Cameron. But the Brewers are also interested in Kennedy while the Yankees have shown some interest in Bill Hall.
 
The Yankees are the frontrunners to signing Burnett, and say that even if they do sign him, adding Lowe along with Burnett and CC is not out of the question as Lowe is finding New York more appealing with the addition of Sabathia.
 
White Sox are interested in Abreu if they trade Dye. Johan Santana has told the Mets to also pursue Abreu.
 
The Red Sox are in talks with the D-Backs for a swap between Lugo and Byrnes.
 
The Reds sign Arthur Rhodes to a 2-year $4 million deal.
 
The Padres are demanding DeRosa in the trade for Peavy and it's up in the air if the Cubs are willing to trade him, but it's looking more like they will. They are thinking of Chone Figgins as a replacement for him, and Jason Marquis would also be a part of the trade to San Deigo.

I think the media attention and ESPN saying he is going to the Sox is being overplayed. The Sox are hesitant to offer an 8th year and Tex wants atleast 8 and would probably like 10. Also he wants a No Trade Clause... The Sox do not give out NTC.

It is rumored the Sox will end up offering 8/160 but the Os offered 7/150 so they will have no problem going up to 8 and even up to 9-10 years for the home town kid.

I think a lot of the information out there about Tex is misinformation by Boras.

Yeah I agree I think Tex is still being shopped by 5-6 teams I still think he might resign with LAA and Boras is using the RedSox to make LAA pay more for Tex. 

Heard a rumor about Man Ram to Toronto but highly doubt this one.  I still think he resigns with LAD

Cashman is flying to Texas to talk to Pettitte and offer him his final shot at remaining a Yankee for 1-year at $10 million. If he declines, he will no longer pursue Pettitte and move onto the next option.

Fuentes is the Cards #1 target right now for a closer.  If the Cards shore up there Pen and get there pitching back for for next year this team can be scary
