Ok.. gotta go with:
 
Roy Halladay ... year in, year out this guy is in the top 3 in the league. Pitching mostly against the AL East, which is the most potent offense in baseball. Best pitcher overall last 5 years. He does not throw anything straight.
 
C.C. Sabathia ... is a horse and a strikeout specialist. Also now pitching in the AL East. High velocity and filthy breaking pitches make this guy one of the most imposing figures on the mound.
 
Cole Hamels ... He is a special lefty whose numbers are spectacular when you consider that most of his games are pitched in Philly, which is a hitters park. Already a WS champ and we are yet to see his best IMO.
 
Josh Beckett - Again, facing the best offenses in baseball. This guy is a clutch performer. He posesses a full arsenal of pitches and an ability to get inside the batters head. WS champ, what more needs to be said?
 
Feliz Hernandez - Unfortunately most of us on the east coast dont get to see Seattle games as often due to time difference, but if you have seen King Felix, you know that this guy is among the elite. He has nasty stuff, and his staggaring numbers are a direct result of this. His W/L records are skewed because of Seattles lack of offense, but that may not be as much of a problem this year, and i look for 15+ wins.

Can someone explain to me why people are putting Edinson Volquez in their list of the TOP 5 PITCHERS IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL? That is just ridiculous.

If this list was who are the 5 guys pitching the best right now?? Id have to say....

Johan, Greinke, Doc, Josh Johnson, Billingsley.

What is ridiculous about Volquez? 08' 17-6 3.21 ERA  206 K's. Looks pretty good to me.  I would take him in my starting five any day.  Where you been?

Volquez has been unhittable lately!!! In his last two starts he is 2-0 and has not been scored upon in 16 innings. He has given up just four hits in those two starts and opponents are hitting a measly .172 on the year against him.

Johan is scary good with those on base...   Dosent he have the lowest in ERA since the All Star Break last year?...could of swore I heard that somewhere.  He should be number one.   Grienke  looking solid at number two...but hey still early.. Rest a toss up..

JMon you are on the money there. Johan was 8-0 after the All-Star break last year and has rolled right into this season. he is the best pitcher in Baseball. Greinke could have a fantastic year and dominate this season. I like my five. They are money in the bank.

Don't forget with Volquez, he pitches half his games at Great American, a HUGE hitters ballpark, and he puts up those numbers, I respect him even more.

And to the guy who thinks Felix Hernandez is in the top 5..
 
He shows flashes of brilliance, but I wouldn't even put him in my top 20, he reminds me of Daniel Cabrera, overwhelming stuff, but just can't put it all together.
