You rarely, if ever, post the amount of your plays. But today for some reason, you chose to post the dollar amount but with it post a disclaimer that the dollar amount isn't important and not to get caught up in it?
It just really makes no sense. If you don't want people to get caught up in the dollar amount, then don't post it. Letting everyone know this is your first "two unit" play bigger that normal would have had the same effect, no?
A cynical person would say that you ARE trying to draw attention to your threads by posting the dollar amount, and your warning to not get caught up in the amount is __________. You fill it in.
So my understanding is that the term 'unit' is used so that people with different bankrolls can compare the relative strength of a view on the outcome of an event without getting caught up in the amount of dollars at risk by both respective parties. When you introduce dollar amounts it essentially contradicts the purpose of the use of the term ‘unit’. I guess I don’t understand the purpose of introducing dollar amounts into a thread. I guess if you mention it in passing it is not a big deal but to count money in a thread is sorta weird to me. I need to focus on the games but if I’m going to spend as much time as I do reading threads its probably worth my time to make this point even if it goes unnoticed.

I prefer annoucing plays in dollars vs units, makes more sense to me but I guess evrybody has an opinion. keep making your plays as you want.... somebody who bets a dime is showing more conviction than sombody who bets 10 units and his unit is $10
I am on the Reds as well for a dime. I also take law of averages into account when review a game. The pirates are showing some spark and their fans are excited about the possibilities this year.
But, they still are 23rd in runs scored compared to the reds at #5
Obviously, the Pirates may win but I am betting that the Reds win.
I am hopeful that Cueto turns in strong performance. he is more likely to pitch well against a weak hitting team. Pirates are 239 at home.
Good luck

@ kush...GL i'm on the Reds...Fading her is not profitable in the long run but to each his own....Fishscale any thoughts on this one?
I agree fading her in the long run would be a bad decision. But you gotta pick your spots. I've never faded or tailed her before. But today is Fade Phillips day!

Sarah, thats alot of money. I definatly like the Reds but dont sleep on the Pirates.. The Pirates have won the last 6 meetings. Plus they've also won 5 of the last 6 games. Karstens has been solid all season and he has won his 4 starts. Other the other hand the Reds have been inconsisant on the road and have lost 5 of the last 6 road games. When i first looked at this game i really liked the Under. I'm not trying to influence you to change your pick, i'm just looking out for you. BOL though! Whatever you choose im pulling for you.
adding the Pirates with Karstens is 4-1 at home and as a team they are 6-2 in his starts. I don't know alot of love for Cinn in here. But Pitt is worth a look

All the love for the Pirates reminds me of opening day at Wrigley.
I haven't seen any love for the Pirates, except from Kush and myself.
I've seen both Weeble and Bodio with the Reds as their POD, not to mention True, who's actually been hot lately. Plus Sarah made it a 2 unit play. The Reds might be the most loved play of the year on these boards.

Had the same reaction when I saw the Phillies/Cubs total. I wagered a full unit on it, but didn't include it in my thread. Because, I was thinking how much I suck at totals and then I decided to wager after I read what you said.
