Question About roulette

My sportsbook has live roulette and its not digital but rather its video roulette where you can see the wheel and the attendant.  Maybe I am over looking something here, but the odds are 1 to 1.  So they pay even.  What if I make a $5 bet and lose it, then my next bet I make on the same color for $10, and if I lose that one then I bet $20, and so on and so forth always betting on the same color until I win.  Then once I win I start back at $5 bets.  Correct me if I am wrong, but based on probability it is very unlikely that I would even get to greater than $100 bets before I won.

Martingale betting system.. do a good search on it..

But to make you life  easier, you might win in the beginning but at some point you'll go on a bad run and lose all your money.

That's a quick way to no bankroll.  I watched a guy in Vegas drop close to $5,000 in vegas last year betting even...odd like nine times in a row.

Actually I think $5,000 is too high...but my point is it's not a good system.

 As a few of the posters have basically mentioned here, chasing losses by doubling up is one of the dumbest and quickest ways to going broke. Many times, you will be risking a lot to win a little, till you eventual lose several in a row and completely wipe out your bankroll.

But it's a 50% chance of being red.  This means that theres a 25% chance of two blacks in a row, a 12.5% chance of three blacks in a row, a 6.25% chance of 4 in a row, a 3.125% chance of 5 in a row...So there is a 97% chance that I will win before my bets even go past $80 bucks (if starting w/ a 5$ bet)!  That sounds pretty good to me.

yeah it seems easy doesn't it... i've seen 10 straight black or red or even/odd

Its the same as chasing losses betting on games.. eventually u'll have a 6 or 7 game losing streak

i do this all the time... it only works for so long...
eventually one bad streak kills all your winnings, most likely you will lose due to hitting the max bet...

however i want to chase 20-40-80-160 and just win 100 and walk away doing this method... lol

Seriously, roulette has been around for a very long time, and you can't possibly think you're the first guy to think of this brilliant scheme.  Trust me, the casino (or in this case, sportsbook) WANTS you to do this, just like they want you to split 10's at the blackjack table.  It's a bad idea.

As a very experienced roulette gambler, and a very good one at it, I highly disagree with your theory.  First of all your %'s that you state in #11 comment are absolutely wrong.  You are forgetting the color GREEN which are numbers 0&00.  I have won thousands of dollars with the method that I play roulette and have lost thousands. My last trip to Vegas they kicked my ass pretty bad, which hasn't happened for quite sometime but it did. I would research it a lot find a method that sounds good to you and stick with it, winning or losing, especially losing, I have had to discipline myself to stick with it because there were many of times where I said fuck it I'm gonna do this my way and go away from my own method and end up losing more.  Stick with your theory on how to beat the game and good things will come from it.

Chasing works if you have an infinite bankroll with a $5 min and infinite max bet table. Why do you think casinos have tables that are $5 min and $1000 max bet? Also if it really worked, don't you think casinos would outlaw it?

 Like another poster stated, you have forgotten about 0 and 00, so your percentages are way off.  Good luck with your awful system, as casinos LOVE suckers like you.

I have done this last week at rio. $100 on black. Win. 10 Mins later $100 on black loss, $200, $400, $1000, $2000 fuxking red. I had two $1000 chip left, I put it on black . Here comes green 0.. Now what would I do.. Went to the ATM and by the time I got back, there goes blackkkkk..fuck... .. Never chase when u loose..

guess you missed statistics class, short version is these are independent events, just because its red the last 5 times doesnt mean it cant go red again.

its not like in black jack where after a hand the cards used are no longer in the deck, all the black #s are on the wheel every spin just like all the red #s. 

i tried this theory out in college, went broke doing it. 

what if it went red 10x in a row do you have the bankroll to back that? if you did have 102,400 to lay that 10th time do you have the balls to? say you do, do you think there is any casino on this earth going to let a guy who doesnt regularly play big come in and drop a 100k on red or black?

if you are playing roulette and only betting on the outside bets... STOP PLAYING ROULETTE and play baccarat.  At least you don't have to deal with 0 and double 0 bullshit.

Only game you should play online that you can find at a casino is poker. Stay away from the house edge games.
