fielder only has a few teams that can afford him and need him.
rangers can't, to many guys to resign
brewers nope, k-rod screwed them
stl possible
jays, unlikely as they will only give him a 5 year deal
cubbies, i would say are the favourite
washington, i don't see why they would do it with a good 1B already

****Prince is definitely running out of options which is good for the Jays. The longer this drags out the better it will be for the Jays.
As far as the Nationals are concerned, I assuming you are referring to Mike Morse. He has started more MLB games in the outfield than at 1B. Prince would fit in well.

Funny feeling. Prince is shorter and heavier than his daddy, and is at the same age his daddy started to decline. Cecil Fielder did not ride his peak years very long. I think some of the folks assessing him may be taking that into consideration and the offers may not be up in the stratosphere, hence; he is not yet signed. A long term deal would probably be best for him, but maybe not for a club. Whatever happens, it will be interesting to watch the balance of his career.

I heard one of the baseball pundits speculate that since there doesn't seem to be a solid market for Prince right now---for whatever reason-- that his agent might to get him a one year deal for around $20 million with an AL team, then go balls out in a better free agent market in 2013....when he will still be just 28 years old.
Anyone hear abut this?

PS: No way the Cubs will sign him for the dough he wants. I think the Rangers are most likely to sign him, but maybe for just one year.
What leads credence to this is that it is rumored hear in Chicago that the Cubs-Rangers have been discussing a Garza for Mitch M<oreland and prospects deal, which would lead a clear path to first base for Fielder in GTexas.

I've got a gut feeling that Matt Garza starts the 2012 season with the Blue Jays. His contract falls right into Jays GM AA plans. A #2 starter under contract for the next 2 years at around $8 mill. His career record is similar to John Danks except for the 3.83 era and Danks just signed for $13mill per for 5 years. Garza is a bargain. The Cubs are looking to retool the organization and the Jays have a quality prospects. Epstein and AA will find a way.
