Let them have their fun for now. They though Bucholz was impressive, wait until the Yankees START their season with all of their young talent. That will be impressive. I really hope Pettitte stays, then he can be the vet in the rotation with Hughes, Wang, Joba, and Kennedy. It's really scary though if Pettitte doesn't come back, and your most experienced starter has 2 years of Major League experience. Yet oh so much talent.

First off, it doesn't matter that Torre's job was on the line. Remember in the 2003 ALCS, the Sox were 5 outs away from making it to the World Series? Well, that didn't seem to motivate them to win did it? Nope.

And it's funny you mention that the Yanks wont win the Wild Card. It's because your correct. They will win the East, and make the BoSox pay another $50,000,000 to talk to a Japanese player.

very funny considering how your perfect Yankees spent 20 something million in a panic move to negotiate with Igawa.  how many wins did the yankees get out of Igawa?   And please don't include his minor league stats

I never said that he was better, but the money he got is nothing compared to Dice-K. He was as much of a theif as Clemens. Alright, a little over the edge there, but he did not deserve what they gave him. Although it might work out very well for the Yanks if they do make a deal with the Padres. It was said that Igawa may go to the Padres in a trade, which means the Yanks drop his undeserving salary and take on 1 or 2 good prospects or a good reliever. I wouldn't mind taking Heath Bell or Cla Merideth. Thats probably unlikely, but you never know what Cashman can do.

I think the Dice-K move may not have been a great investment money wise but in this move they were also able to get Okajima to be on the team also.....I would love to waste 50 Mil to talk to a good pitcher rather than give whatever you paid for Igawa (I know he wasnt cheap!) 

Of course the money that Igawa got was nothing compared to Dice-K because Dice K was the Japanese stud.

man, it must be wonderful to live in fantasy yankee land.  you really think san diego is going to take igawa and give the yanks a top bullpen pitcher AND a couple of prospects AND eat the remaning 20 or so million of Igawa's contract?  not happening.  Remember, the great yankees paid 20 something million to negotiate and then another 20 something million for his contract.  as for Matsuzaka, the kid is a good pitcher and just turned 27. 

First off...I didn't say prospects and a top bullpen pitcher. I said 1 or the other. Igawa was talked about possibly going to San Diego. It was a little thing I heard while listening to the Yankees game on the radio. Secondly, Igawa would make a great fit in San Deigo because it's a PITCHERS ballpark, and his high pitches could work right in there. Third, with a little money attached to Igawa, the Yanks could get whatever they want from the bullpen. Except Hoffman of course. 4th, Matsuzaka isn't a wonderful pitcher. Decent, good, i'll give him that. But IMO, he should go in the 4th spot of certain rotations. Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy, CM Wang, Chris Young, John Maine, Erik Bedard, Jered Weaver, Felix Hernandez ect. are all better them him, are all very young, and all of their salaries next season probably wont even add up to his negotiation. He is way to young to be getting what he got for his first time in MLB, and he isn't nearly good enough to be getting all the money he is. Like I said, he is good, but he is not that good. Or at least not yet. And say whatever you want about Igawa. I could care less. I hate that guy, and I think he sucks. He doesn't even deserve $1,000,000 a year because he goes what, 3 innings a start if that much. He was by far a worst investment then Dice-K, but they did get him for a whole lot cheaper, and for a longer period of time.
