Phillies are a very very good team that got hot at the right time and had some huge plays in the NLDS and NLCS.  Stupid comment by a biased Rays fan.  I really like your Rays team.  I was actually rooting for them when the playoffs first started. Great young hitters and the pitching has looked good all year.  They will not be able to hang with Philly's bats and speed.  We have the best infield in baseball, the best closer in baseball, We have hit the most homers, our hitting with 2 outs is incredible, Best pinch hitter in baseball, 3 MVP caliber players (Howard, Utley, Rollins), and some of the best role players in baseball (Werth, Victorino, Madson).  PHILS in 5

Kaufee-  The Phils wouldn't have even made the playoffs the last 2 years if not for the Mets choking..  Go ahead and go top to bottom with the lineups, and you will see a much stronger offensive lineup on the CO side then the Philly side..  The only advantage Philly has is pitching.
 
As for "they returned just about the same team" uhh.. good try, they lost their speed at the top of the lineup.. as Matsui left for the Astros and both Taveras and Spilbourghs missed significant time along with Helton.  The pitching staff had only 3 of the 5 from last years rotation.
 
If not for Victorino this team wouldn't be anywhere.. Rollins continues to choke in big situations and Howard is a joke, the guy is too busy chomping down 6 foot party subs with Jared then hitting anything but a homerun..

Some people need to stop drinkin all that hatorade and think logically.  Phils are here to stay for the forseeable future.  Utley, rollins, howard, victorino, cole and lidge form the best core in baseball.  PERIOD.  Not to bash the Mets(although I hate them with a passion) we earned those divisions.  Once might be a choke. Twice is starting a trend.  Ever think they might be the most overhyped team in sports? Think about it

I'm sure the rest of the National league would like to be as "horrible" as the Phillies and playing in the world series. These sour grapes threads always make me laugh and really make people look foolish. I also love it when people say "well the phillies only made it because the Mets choked".....well if that's the case then I suppose the Mets aren't a very good team either right ?

Rocketman - I wish I didn't have to work today b/c I'd  love to spend the next hour breaking down both teams just to prove to you that last years Colorado team has no advantage in any area.....not the lineup, not starting pitching, and not the bullpen. Colorado got hot for 3 weeks...look what happen after they had to wait a week to play Boston....they cooled off and got swept. what a stupid post.  look at the stats.

8th in the league in runs scored (2nd in the NL)

6th in the league in ERA (4th in the NL)

6th in the league in steals (4th in the NL)

2nd in the league in homeruns (1st in the NL)

they create runs and are active on the base paths, their closer was very solid throughout the season, and they also have numerous players who can go deep every at bat.  the phils may not be the best team, but give them a little more credit.
