But to be honest Krause you did use this same title on a white soxs game and lost, so you can see where some people are coming from.

Good points. That's one of the reasons why I like the Sox tonight because the bullpens will be a factor.

Agree, Wang will be on pitch count due to his rehab, he may be gone by 5th innings. Sox will go for him immediately so he does not manage to get into rythm, they will also try to force his pitch count up, the aim is to get him out of the game fast, then into the pen. As you say Sox has number one pen in MLB ERA 2.66. Wang did make 3 pitch count controlled starts, but on Thursday he gave up 5 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings against Texas. Also there will be enormous psychological pressure on Wang, all the eyes willbe on him, the press ready to swoop, can his head handle it.

Not that it matters but here is my two cents worth.
 
NYY haven't beat BOS yet this year.  This alone creates confidence for BOS but also allows those bettors to argue that NYY is due.  I believe it is this mentality that is driving the money to NYY and the BOS value down.
 
Just looking at some basic statistics these teams are very close. From a pitching perspective: Wang 0-3 with a WHIP=2.57, ERA=14.46 for the year and his numbers are worst in his last 7 innings pitched.  Wakefield 7-3 with a WHIP=1.4, ERA=4.5 for the year but his numbers over his last 17 innings aren't quite that good.
 
NYY avg .278 as a visitor with an ERA=4.28
BOS avg .290 at home with an ERA=3.89
 
From a bullpen perspective I believe BOS has an advantage here with an ERA=.98 in their last three games versus NYY ERA=3.44.  Sidenote, both bullpens reflect a WHIP=.93.
 
BOS is at home, the psychological boost of sweeping in front of the home crowd would be immense.  Although NYY recognize this as well they won't just lay down.  Problem IMO is that NYY isn't set up to win this game on the road, at least not today.

yankees always hit the red sox hard and plus they got shut out yesterday they wont again and wang is going to pitch good hes pitchign for his career right here  and dont forget wang was a great pitcher 2 years ago, he could go back into form   but wakefield is washed up

I am with ya on this one but my calculations for wang are a little different.....I got wang at 18.9 % era....and wakefeild at 5.16 %...... i think it will be an over (10.5) and i give the overall win to the bosox bullpen at home......

I use a differnt calculating system...then most.....but the outcome for this one should be about the same.....i guess at a 9-6 game

Wakefield is washed up? Are you kidding me! The team is 8-3 in his starts. He has a record of 7-3 with an era of 4.50 but he is washed up?! Are you kidding me? Have a clue before you post please!

Wang was given an extra day of rest and had an extra bullpen session and says he feels better and stronger. Yanks are just looking for 5 innings from him and have Hughes in the wings. Not sure how anyone can feel overly confident in Wakefield. In his last 7 starts, he has thrown 39 innings and allowed 51 hits, 29 earned runs and 19 walks. That's an ERA of  6.69 and a WHIP of 1.79. The Yanks have hit Wakefield well:

Jeter       .313, 3 HR's
ARod     .276, 7 HR's
Damon   .317,  4 HR's
Cano     .324,  3 HR's
Cabrera  .455

In the past 3 years, Wake is 2-5 against the Yanks (I believe 0-5 at Fenway) with a 6.67 ERA. In 55 1/3 innings, he has allowed 10 HR's and 91 baserunners for a WHIP of 1.64. Looks like a good spot to me for the Yanks.

The Yankess already know when they take the field tonight that this will be a difficult game to win. This is just a bad time and a bad place for Wang to go up against this team.

wakefield's not washed up, but he's an average pitcher at this point in his career. a 4.50 ERA is not very good and the only reason he is 7-3 is because he has one of the best lineups behind him giving him great run support almost every time out! so, he can thank the red sox bats for that 7-3 record! if he had a 4.50 ERA on kansas city he would probably be 4-6!!! win-loss records do not indicate how good you are pitching!

1. Wang has an era of 14.46
2. Wang has an era of 27.00 over his last 3 starts
3. Wakefield has an era of 4.50
4. Red Sox are 8-3 when Wakefield starts
5. Red Sox home record is 19-8
6. Red Sox are 6-0 against the Yankees this year
7. Wakefield is 4-0 with an era of 3.00 at Fenway this year
8. Wang's career era at Fenway is 5.11
9. Yankees bullpen era is 4.88
10. Red Sox bullpen era is 2.76
11. Wang's opponents are batting .443 against him
12. Wang hasn't made it through the 5th inning all year
