If ANY one wins, do I win? Regardless if that's not the case...if they grade it as a loss, I can complain and say there was no field...if I win...then .
But really.......could I have found a gem of an accidental lock???

EXACTLY. Usually the field is a GOLF bet. !

You're being silly. As in anything else, the field is everyone that is not listed, including you and I. Since the odds of someone other than the 8 listed guys winning is absurdly astronomical, the "field" bet is the sucker bet and anyone would be asinine to play such a thing. AT BEST, your book may feel sorry for you for being such a moron (if you played the field) and refund your money after you sat there for a half hour saying duh, I didn't know, the field did win....but good luck with that!

As I said, the odds of winning a bet on someone other than the 8 guys listed is absurdly astronomical...to cut to the chase, you would need one of the 8 listed guys to fall ill or injured or some other crazy reason that they cannot participate, then you would need someone to step forward, with little to no preparation, then beat 7 other sluggers. To my knowledge, these circumstances have never happened in the Derby history. And no, this is the first time "the field" has been used in a HR Derby and no it is not a mistake, just a sucker bet.

sorry, the last sentence should read no, this is not the first time.....and no, if no one drops out you will lose. Listen closely....you would be betting on someone other then the 8 listed participants to win...if one of the 8 listed participants wins, you lose...just please take my advice, don't bet this, and let it go.

i think its like koaj said, its a middle of the road line in case someone is a last minute scratch it would have to be someone who is already there for the game and you know it wont be arod.. so... i would assume worst case this would be no action if everyone participates that is supposed too, but maybe you can pull a fast one on your guy, i dont know, he doesnt sound to swiff if he is paying out bets to a -1 line that was -11

badlands- first off, thanks for taking the time to help out. I appreciate it.
Second- I was getting in college football +11.5 when the line was -11.5. Just insane stuff...and I was getting paid on Monday morning.........I put it in for 100...wanted to go large, but won't complain/be greedy...........
I'll settle for a push here after all this talk though. Good grief.
