Maybe those folks realize strikeouts are not the key factor that determines the overall value a baseball players has.

The prop is barely break-even it appears. 

Imagine  a candidate winning the MVP, on the worst team in the league  ( Angels currently), and a player who hardly contributes to Triple Crown Achievements.

Also, the team that struck out the most in 2025, #1 angels #2 Colorado and the list goes on. But, according to you, a team's average and how many times a team strikes out, doesn't matter? Right?

Yes I do.  It seems too easy to pick Detroit. With that being said. That was my original wager when the series started so I'm sticking with it. I even put more on Cleveland money line today. I actually like Cleveland a lot. 

Is there any way out of it? What were the odds pre flop?

The Pistons are -191 today, the Cavs are +165.

In practice, the “elite wRC+ clubs” are almost always heavily represented in October baseball, with only occasional misses due to pitching injuries or division strength.

This is the key reason ‘individual’ batters that are better in these advanced analytics categories are better producers for teams in the long run.  

That is why teams try to get as many of these types of players as opposed to players with just an over average BA.

 The original odds were Detroit - 125 Cleveland + 105. I have 500 on that. After Cleveland lost game 1. Then I put 500 more on Cleveland at + 260, but my sportsbook had a "boost" on that wager, so it gave me Cleveland + 440. They do that to entice you making more wagers. So I'm actually sitting pretty good right now. I only put 200 more on Cleveland at +165. So, I have 1,200 riding. I hope you followed all that. Thank you for your input

 8 of the top 10 teams with the highest team batting average made the playoffs in 2025 with Toronto at 265 leading the way. Anaheim Angels, last place, led the league with strikeouts, Rockies, also in last place, was 2nd in strikeouts. That's because averages matter, and strikeouts matter.  The overall point is that is that BA is not as good of a predictor as the more advanced statistics are.

That is the reason nowadays folks just do not put as much stock in BA as they used to.
