Gray will oppose Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller, who will try to help Pittsburgh extend its season-best winning streak to six games.
Gray (8-2, 3.36 ERA) threw a one-hit shutout the last time he was on the mound, leading the Cardinals to a 5-0 road win over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday.
Gray has dominated the Pirates this season, going 2-0 with an 0.75 ERA in two prior starts. He allowed one run in 12 combined innings while striking out 12 and walking one. In a start at Pittsburgh on April 8, Gray struck out four and allowed one run -- a solo homer by Bryan Reynolds -- over five innings.
In 13 career starts and one relief appearance against the Pirates, Gray is 7-4 with a 3.66 ERA.
St. Louis has yet to score in its first two games against Pittsburgh this week and has been shut out four times in its past seven games.
Keller, who has been the subject of trade speculation recently, will try to keep that trend going for the Pirates.
Keller (2-10, 3.90 ERA) finally snapped a personal 15-start winless drought on Friday when he recorded his first victory since March 28, pitching 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball in a 9-1 home win over the New York Mets.
The 29-year-old right-hander allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out four. The victory was the first in a stretch of four consecutive games in which the Pirates scored nine or more runs and won by seven or more.
Keller is 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA in two starts against the Cardinals this season. He threw 7 1/3 shutout innings, fanned six and walked one vs. St. Louis on April 9 in Pittsburgh.

On the second day of July, the Blue Jays can move into a tie for first place in the division with a victory over the Yankees in Toronto on Wednesday night.
The Blue Jays have won the first two games of a four-game series between the clubs. After Toronto's 12-5 win on Tuesday, the Yankees fell to 6-12 in their past 18 games.
New York will ask rookie right-hander Will Warren (5-4, 4.37 ERA), making his first career start against Toronto, to snap the losing streak. Warren went 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA over five starts in June.
He will oppose Blue Jays veteran right-hander Jose Berrios (4-3, 3.26), who is set to make his 15th career start against the Yankees and is 4-8 with a 4.89 ERA in prior meetings. Berrios faced the Yankees on April 25, throwing 5 1/3 shutout innings, but didn't figure into the decision in a 4-2 Toronto win.

Imanaga, however, hopes to be better than his only other career appearance against Cleveland when the host Cubs try to hand the Guardians a sixth consecutive loss on Wednesday night.
After missing seven weeks with a strained left hamstring, Imanaga (4-2, 2.54 ERA) allowed one hit, a walk and struck out three over five innings during Chicago's 3-0 victory at St. Louis on Thursday.
However, there was nothing great for Imanaga and the Cubs during a 9-8 loss at Cleveland on Aug. 12, 2024. During that outing, he allowed seven runs (three earned) with seven hits -- including two homers -- over five innings.
Cleveland has lost each of the last three outings made by Wednesday's scheduled starter, right-hander Tanner Bibee (4-8, 3.90 ERA), but he's yielded two earned runs in three of his last four. That included Thursday, when he gave up three total runs and three hits while striking out seven without a walk through six innings of the Guardians' 6-0 loss to Toronto.
Bibee threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his only previous start against the Cubs, in 2023. Chicago's Seiya Suzuki and Carson Kelly are a combined went 0-for-4 against him.
