LOOKING FOR INPUT ON BASEBALL/MONEY STRATEGIES FOR MLB SEASON

Football, basketball I hold my own....Baseball..I always lose--I play too many games.  Looking for any strategies on picking games and money management.  A couple general "strategies " i use is "Go against World Series Winner"--always a heavy favorite.   I like to bet on the best teams and against the worst teams and not worry about the middle teams. I take the Red Sox a lot (Home team) I heard some one mention about doubling up each game riding a streak to 5 or 7 games...sounds like you pick the right team you can make a lot this way...What say the "Forum" public?  There are some good handicappers out there.

I just pick who I like no system 

I used to use an underdog system for MLB that was always profitable over the long run. I have no clue if it would still work with today's style of play but here is how it worked. You primarily bet on underdog ML's and all bets are for equal amounts. Do not bet against any team on a winning streak of 3 or more and do not bet on any team on a losing streak of 3 or more. Do not bet against any SP who is in the top 20 ERA of their League. So through the process of elimination each day you could have just 1 or 2 bets or you could be betting the entire slate. Usually it is somewhere in the middle. Finally, if two top 20 SP are facing each other bet the under. 

I'm guessing it would be best to tweak the ERA rule and use a more modern advanced metric and/or lower from top 20 to 15 or 10. Maybe eliminate that piece of criteria all together I really don't know. It was posted on a popular sports betting site over 10 years ago.

I think you can have ACTION and make money,betting against the Cubs and the Angels every game this year

100% ride streaks in baseball....when a team is hot they are hot dont overthink it.....

same with pitchers when they are on a crazy strikeout run....

I tend to stay away from batters cause hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in professional sports.....even the best only get a hit 3 outta every 10 at-bats..

 There’s lots of angles in baseball but don’t bet 7.5 or 9.5 over is one I stick to. Simply the math says somebody has to score 5 or 6 min to cash. Also look at starting pitcher splits versus the team they are playing. Some lineups murder or have trouble with certain matchups

 bingo on pitchers splits, I also always check there last 3/4 starts too, see if they are rolling or not

why 7.5 and 9.5 but not 8.5? never heard this one before if you care to expand a little

 thanks...I like baseball dogs but that's where I get killed sometimes...the odds are so tempting for bad teams, but it's a losing proposition going against good teams.   as far as 2 top pitchers facing off and the Under..I've seen it go Over a lot too...always seems to go the opposite way you would think...I will go agains the WS champs...LA Dodgers...WS champs .....they could have a winning record but lose a lot of money betting on them.

 Yes the streaks...this year I try to get on a team that wins a 7 game winning streak...doubling up each game  (taking a little along the way at games 3 and 5), so at worst I break even w/ that team or win  a shi* load $$$...I think it could work on a crappy team too...a 7 game losing streak

Back in the 1980's I heard to take the home team going for their 4th or 5th straight win...problem is sometime home team is heavy fav.

I dont mind paying the juice in MLB, had good success in 2019 playing the dodgers win/buehler strikeouts combo....think I went like 12-3 or something stupid...

NFL/NBA I dont like paying the juice as much, just find those games can flip on a dime more so than MLB

 dont have to double up, sometimes just keeping with it is best

I did double up the bet 3 or 4 times on Buehler cause the bet was rolling for me all year

 Baseball is without a doubt, the toughest sport to make a profit when betting. Always tempted to bet the favorite, which will eventually bite you in the ass. I never bet a favorite over -160, and never bet the run line. Sometimes bet the total or team total. Ride a team if they are on a winning streak, and look at the player props. Tread very carefully when betting on baseball.

Read @mrgamehunter treatise on twiter. A few yrs old, but many salient points today.

 Agree,  The Run Lines (and Puck lines) ...it is a stay away...so many times they are an "L"...and the ML odds...it can get ridiculous Minus 300...I've heard the word "Value" used a lot. Whether or not a game is a good "Value"....I need to set some ground rules for myself for the MLB season....I over analyze and lose. Set the rules and don't look back. Rule # 1 Stick to the Rules ... Rule #2 . "Go Against Over favored World Series Winner" Rule #3 ????   GL

Bankroll mgmt won't be as straight forward because of the MLs instead of the spread in football or hoops, but discipline is a must, like many posters here have reminded us.  The "1 unit" or "2 unit" stuff won't compute with MLB...unless you really wanna have a chit-ton of crooked numbers and decimal points when you tally up for the week lol.

Anyway, we'll all be there with ya on Opening Day, so...

With the game becoming a game of bullpens, I like taking short dogs for 1st 5  innings to avoid bullpen blowups. I am going to post my one play each day, with a running $ total , The fewer bets you make the less exposed to juice you are. I will be posting picks in a few days. GL to you on all your plays.

I try to never take a fav over -150-160.

Take a Team the next game if they are good hitting team and lose by a run leaving men on base.

Take a team that gets shutout the next game and if they get shutout twice in a row, double up, and taje the team total over, and often the game total also goes over

I've been doing an under system since 2007 and have won every year. Bet every team $100.00 on the UNDER starting with opening day. Once those teams win on the UNDER,scratch them off your list and you're done with them. If you lose or push the first time,double up and win your money back. If it loses again,triple the next time they play. I have never lost more than 4 games on the same team with this double down system. After the first week of the season,you should have won with every team. Naturally you will have a few of the same teams since they will be playing a team who hasn't played yet. The beauty of this system is o/u are usually -110 to -130,so doubling up after a loss doesn't make your next bet outrageous like it would be if you were betting the ML on a team that started out as a -300 and lost,then you had to double up on them the next game at another -300 or more.
