I see that the Jays contacted the Cubs. Obviously he would help them. Halladay going to the Nationals would make them better. I'm just wondering...do you think they would be contenders again or what?
Halladay
Zambrano
Wells
Dempster
Lilly
I mean...that's a pretty damn good rotation if everyone pitches as they tend to pitch. If they don't have as many injuries as this season, they could be real contenders next season. Am I thinking way to much into this, or does Halladay make this team World Series contenders?

If there was ever a move the Cubs could make to be serious threats for the NL pennant, this would be the one. My suggestion to Jim Hendry would be to get Halladay at any cost and then sign Billy Wagner to close for the next year or two.
In my opinion Hendry is the number one reason why the Cubs have been such a joke, and I'm not sure if he has the eptitude to understand how big Halladay could be for the Cubs.
If the Cubs could get Halladay I believe it could have the same effect as it had on the Red Sox when they got Josh Beckett in 2004. The Cubs need a ace/horse in the front of their rotation that they could consistantly rely upon to pitch great. They were hoping Zambrano could be that guy but it is pretty clear Zambrano is not fit for that role.
