Cannot disagree with that one.AS I have said it will be all about money and winning,state taxes are not even relevant when we are talking such numbers.Where is the endorsement potential dollars more abundant ?Duh! Money will talk that is the GUARANTEE in this case.Personally I could care less as I have zero rooting interest in either side except to see that as usual greed wins out as CASH IS KING.

The Rangers asked Braunecker what it'd take to sign Lee, according to Crasnick.  The agent, who obviously has the upper hand, instead told the Rangers they'll have to make their best offer.

If the Rangers don't acquire Lee mid-season...are they even relevant in talks to sign him this offseason?

The Rangers expect to know by tonight whether they'll be able to sign Lee or not, according to MLB.com's T.R. Sulivan.

Rangers owner Chuck Greenberg announced on a conference call that the team made Lee an offer for an unspecified amount, according to Anthony Andro of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (all Twitter links). The lefty is now weighing his options and the Rangers feel good about their chances. Like the Yankees, the Rangers offered Lee a "menu" of choices, Greenberg said (Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reporting on Twitter).

I'd certainly respect Lee if he took less money. But as stated somewhere...I'd go into a state of depression.

Imigine if he goes to the Rangers. Damn record year. We beat the Yanks in playoffs and outbid them for a player. Mark it down in the history books.

Can he just sign somewhere? I know I'm not going to be the one to post it. I know for sure I'll miss it. But I'm getting sick of waiting around for him to decide. I think he'll sign soon...but when damnit!!!!!

lee will be a yankee.but i think his back problem will hurt the yanks push for another world series.

They might be.  Lee is from Arkansas (not sure if he lives there now) so Texas would have to be high on his list (and more importantly on his wife's list) anyways.

I disagree. His wife would not have gotten treated like shit by the YAnks fans. (This does make a difference) He also would have never realized how good or how much fun the Rangers have. Also you dont truely understand the convenience untill you have had it. (Being that close to home)   He also knows the club can win. Without Lee last year the playoff push would not have gone as well and Lee wants to WIN.

BY the way Sparky thanks for all of this discussion because at first I thought if the Rangers didnt sign Lee I would be depressed for months but now I really dont care. I truely believe if we dont get Lee we get Greinke or Garza(Hopefully Greinke) and that seems like a smart move to me. Less money, younger, and if he can win with KC he can win with Texas.

I wouldn't care if the dude was 50-0 with a zero ERA.There is not 1 human being worth that kind of coin.

Probably by the weekend you will se the end result .When you are looking at 150 or 140 million what really is the big fucking difference at that point.Greed will win out IMO.

By the way Sparky as I am sure you are well aware this signing of regardless of where he goes is not a real sound baseball decision when you are committing those types of dollars to a guy that nearing contracts end you will be stuck with a very bad contract to try and move a declining,aging player.

We've been over this. We have to compare with the baseball world. To baseball players...$10 million is like the difference of an average person makinyg $75k a year or $500k. They live in another world and that's how you have to judge these contracts.

Of course it's not a smart decision. I've already said that. But as a Yankee fan, it's more of do what you have to do to win now and worry about later when it comes. And when later comes...Burnett will be replaced and maybe replaced by another stud ace so it makes the Lee decision not all that bad. Lets face it...money isn't an issue for the Yanks and we've seen that "bad decisions" don't really affect the Yankees.

Burnett...no.
Igawa...no.
Pavano...no.
Javy...no.
Javy Part 2...no.

Not good moves...but when has it really hurt them? Hell...Burnett only has 1 memoriable game for me and that's Game 2 of the 2009 World Series.

Well ultimately its the ownerships that bear responsibility for these salaries as no one puts a gun to their head and forces these outlandish contracts.IMO there should be some legal legislation banning this excessiveness as what the hell kind of example is this to people(kids) growing up.How the fuck does Ryan Howard rate  a 25million per year contract,what the hell would Lou Gehrig get if he was in a differnt era. 100 mill per year to start.Not singling out baseball as its all sports but its to the point that I have already reduced my viewing time on pro sports as the product is not good in the least and there is just too much money around as at the end of the day these guys really could care less about winning and not sure I wouldn't feel the same if I were in that position.Thats it from me on the money subject,feel free to oppose my statements or glorify those greedy fuckers as I really am anti players and owners.
