It's obviously the pitching. 14-2 in July with a half a run better ERA for the month than anyone else in the AL.

Checkout sagarin's website (look up sagarin on google - he's associated with usa today). 

What you will find is  team that is very balanced - 5 hitters that are ranked in the top 20 of hitting.  More importantly their pitchers, 5 pitchers (relief included) are in the top 20 in the league as well. 

Something that is overlooked is the manager and the tone he  sets.  He's created an environment that is a WE verses I mentality and people aren't walking on eggshells.  

Look at the Whitesox after ozzie left and look at Miami now - ozzie is an idiot doesn't understand leadership and Miami won't win with him at the helm - people feel they are walking on eggshells and it affects their play.
