Well I'm glad to see this thread take off into a direction that perfectly suits Covers.  I never said the Red Sox didn't buy their players or buy their titles.  They absolutely did.  Thats part of why I hate baseball now.  Every offseason the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Phillies, and Angels compete in a pissing contest of who can piss away the most money on a baseball player.  These players are getting paid more than what some countries are worth.  That disgusts me.

As far as steroids...yes David Ortiz probably did take steroids.  Yes Manny Ramirez took fertility drugs to get pregnant.  The reason I mentioned in with A-Rod is that if he had never won a title, it would have been a wonderful argument in why you shouldn't use steroids.  Yeah it'll boost up your stats a little bit, but it won't win you titles.  Of course, MLB is so fucked up that I'm sure there hasn't been a "clean" World Series champion since 1990. 

So please, call me a whining Red Sox fan, I can take it.  Im actually a whining baseball fan that happens to be from the Boston area.  I didn't even blink an eye when the Red Sox lost to the Angels.  I've seen 2 World Series' titles in the last 5 years.  Last I checked, there isn't anyone else that can say that.

I agree with what you're saying i'm a Yanks fan and baseball is not the same anymore the big teams just open up their wallets and add the missing piece to the puzzle that they need. IMO it would just be a little more exciting if their was a level playing field with everybody. Do these big teams even have scouts. That's just the way I feel and i'm a Yanks fan.

what about when the red sox 143,026,214 payroll beat the rockies 54,424,000 payroll in 07...didn't hear any bitching about payrolls than

Congrats to Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and Petitte.  The ONLY Yankees that didn't sell out.  Everyone else on this team was BOUGHT.  But the big 4 I respect and have no problem with.

Watching this series made me realize why I HATE baseball.  Its not a team that can put together a good streak and ride their farm system products.  It's an owner and a city that can throw the most amount of money at players.  It's just not an exciting sport to watch any more...my suggestion would be to shorten the season down to 100 games.  Top 16 teams make the playoffs, seeded by regular season record.  AL and NL teams go into the same bracket, and we move down to the eventual champion, all in best-of-5 series

Manny, schilling, drew, pedro, beckett, foulke were all "bought". Signing guys is part of the game

What the small market teams choose to do with the luxury tax money is "put it in their pockets" instead of investing it into the team.
 
The yankees in the 80's and early 90's were crap. They didnt draw 50,000 fans every night. More like 18,000 to 28,000. But they chose to build a winner! re-invest some profits into the organization.  and.....
in the mid 90's they had home grown players such as Bernie, Poseda, Rivera, Jeter, mendoza and pettite
 They added key free agents like Girardi,Bogggs,Strawberry, Fielder, Clemens, etc...They started winning and then the FANS poured in....45,000 every night...everyone buying jerseys and hats..Not to mention a fantastic trade getting O'Neil for Roberto Kelly...(who)  thats right!

after winning 4 outta 5 years baseballs numbers were up accross the board because of steriods...(chicks dig the long ball)

What' next......Yes network, Arod and yes 4 million fans a year coming out to Yankee stadium!!! $$$$$$$$

Keep pumping it into the system..Who the hell wouldn't wanna play for the Yankees??? CC,TEX,A.J
Don't hate the Yankees cause they have the balls to do WHATEVER it takes to win 1st!
Be pissed at your team for not paying that guy the extra 5 million when your paying $75 to watch a 3 hours ballgame.

None of it matters. Its as magical for Yankees fans as it would be for any other fans of any other team. If NYY spend 1 dollar or 100 billion on payroll  you can' t take away the title and you won't diminish any of the good feeling we have for winning. keep trying to drum up steroids and payroll and whatnut, but it doesn't matter, it doesnt put even one less drop of satisfaction in our bellies.

In fact, to know the haters are out there makes it sweeter than it would be if everyone congratulated us and moved on with their lives. Keep hating , your hate makes the win just that much more gratifying.

The main point of the thread was to say that I hate baseball.  I hate the stupid money that is thrown at these guys to play a simple.  I hate the fact that most of them took steroids.  I hate the fact that because of the salary cap situation the same teams will win for the next 50 years.

I had no problem with his post as long as he admits his teams part in the problem.

The Yankees cannot be blamed for this, hate the system, not the team for reinvesting.
